OK, this whole getting a thread up and running is all very new to me and it’s simply a matter of time before something goes horribly wrong, so if there is something wrong with this, the answer to your question is yes, I have the computer literacy of a dog. An exceptionally dull dog….. Any how, these are some photos I’ve taken (obviously...)! Crits most definitely welcome but beneath my tough exterior lies a sensitive soul. Please be gentle…:P

Digging no.4 especially. It's a little distracting on the left hand side, but it's a nice palette going on there. I'm wondering just how you got the colour palette, luck, timing, so on?

I absolutely like the first one, the soft gradations and the choice of b/w really work very well.

The jpg steps in the gradation in the sky are not so nice, but I guess in your home-hi-res this problem isn't there(?)

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Hoping to have more up soon for you all to judge and scrutinise

Mhouse- thanks. Know what ya mean about the last one, iv a bit of a love/hate relationship with it. Not sure if you realised or not but the words beneath it is its title. Gives the picture a concept and makes it slightly more interesting or poignant.

Samsite – im still waiting:P ….but thanks for the kind words.

Kendra- thanks (and im not just saying this as an excuse ) but where that was taken is really difficult to get to and that’s the best angle I could get without crippling myself

Rhynome- when I was out shooting the fog was just lifting and the sun was going down and it created this real eerie light. Changed a lot as well, as seen in the 3rd pic….. pretty much down to luck and timing…

Mr mu- ‘The jpg steps in the gradation in the sky are not so nice, but I guess in your home-hi-res this problem isn't there(?)’ dude, I don’t have a clue what the hell that means. If you translate that from computer talk into really dumbed down English id be only to happy to fix it (or, even better, you tell me how to fix it..)

Eazym- am, yeah, thanks

dude, I don’t have a clue what the hell that means.

LOL...

I mean the artefacts which occur sometimes when you compress a file into jpg format.

I did see them in the sky on my monitor at home (which has a pretty high contrast), but not at work. So it might depend on the monitor if you can see the thing at all.

Basically, it's a sort of pixelated fringe where you want a soft gradation and it goes away when you don't compress the file too much.

That's as much as I know, being an image file format illiterate, myself, you know... So you maybe should ask someone again who knows his shit...:P

Ok, update time. Just back from a weekend study trip in London which ended up turning into more of a drinking weekend and needless to say, photography of any artistic merit took the back seat….. These were taken around 4 in the morning in the freezing cold with no tripod (and a little pissed) but they didn’t turn out too bad (I hope…). Again c and c appreciated. Cheers.

Ah, the Docks... the most romanticised shit-hole in London... I don't usually swear on the forums, but this deserves it.

Great photos though. I like Divisions, though I do think Canary Wharf is a bit ugly.

To get the preview picture thing you upload a picture, only has to be small. I dunno if there's any other way, haven't bothered looking.

Another London shot. Didn’t really suit the previous post (plus, I didn’t even realise I had it at the time:dead: ). Not to be taken to seriously, was just a bit of a joke but turned out better than I expected…

a big thanks to chris for being a complete poser.
And Rhynome, I know what ya mean about the docks…..they aint exactly glamorous but late at night there’s a strange peacefulness to the area …………..and the hotels are cheap (by London standards) :D
thanks for the comments guys. and to all those silent observers, speak up..

this last one is pretty cool...i automatically connected it with the third one....as for the 1st one if its gonna be black and white i would try and get more contrast..? but thats just me i always like a lil more contrast with balck and white but i do see where the idea is going with the haziness and such....cool stuff!
