I had this one sitting on my hard drive for a while. So I decided to polish it out.

If I remember correctly, This is one that you were working on in montreal. I remember watching the demo, really inspiring stuff Mr Kei. Great to have you posting again.

Only one thing to say, and that is THANKYOU.
Really digging the blue glow on the neck and weapon. Nice design too.

Hey James, don't let such things lay around your HD.
Post'em!
Hehe, beautifull painting, man.

Best regards followed by star dust from me.

Odin with his two "wolves" Gerri and Freki, perhaps? Is that Gungnir I spy in his hand? Heh, just some guesses. Amazing image, really great render. Good job.

I think your greatest strength lies in your design. That beast on the right side is absolutely brilliant, I believe it.

Holy shit....is that Kevin Costner? :P

This is a great image here...those brush strokes are awesome stuff. The atmosphere this thing contains is something else.

Loverly. Although his rear leg may be disappearing a bit too much, especially relative to the creature's right next to it.

I second Ewell. For a second I misread the right creature's back leg for the man's right leg.

An amazing piece. I love it.

very nice painting! only crit i have is the anatomy of the man, his right forearm seems rather short considering where his wrist starts.

super cool James....I like how the archway frames the central guy and his "ice blade" is a nice touch. Maybe you couol add some icey breath coming from the main character as well to really make it feel chilly.

Nice to see new stuff from you, always look forward to it. =)

what, you just finished this now?! I assumed I had missed seeing the finished posting last summer.

j/k, better late than never, I bet there's many an unfinished potential masterpiece languishing on the harddrives of this community. :)

my only crit is that the angle of the sword looks unnatural with the pose of his hand. it looks like the thumb side of his hand is pointing at us while the sword would be more comfortably held as shown with the palm side facing us.

There's something about the colors and the great creature designs that really makes this piece grab my attention. Amazing work, thanks for sharing. :)

Finally! Work from the elusive James Kei! You need to post more... especially your fine art painting and drawing. Anyhow, this is terrific. Great atmosphere... you can really feel the cold.

The temperature insided the human body is a steamy 98.6F. The temperature inside a winter-fresh sword? Much much cooler.

Nice work man, that beast dude's head on the right is great. :)

impressive James...dig those creatures. It's been a while since I've seen your stuff. and yeah, like Jason said you do make it look too easy.

i see a ring wraith!
cool stuff, i personally would like to see the two creatures more related, first thing that comes in my mind, why is the lizard with thicker skin wear armor and the mammal with softer skin not.

This is probably just an artist on artist nitpick, but just a concern of mine.

cool.. something bothers me about the human character though, but Im not sure what... the left arm seems malformed in some way... the way he's holding his sword seems unnatural to me too.. nice job otherwise

very very nice =) one small crit: it looks like its a overcast light situation, which theres no hard edge shadows. which you have done everywhere except the tree on the left hand side. very inspirational peice and i can imagine playing him in a game already. sorda like Lost planet with melee and summoned pets. =D
