Nice start, I like the enviroment with the ship the best, I think your images could use some cleaning up a bit but other than that great job, keep it up and develope your skills.

cool work slav, style comes on it's own with hard work, drawing from life and looking at ather artists.

you handled the pose of that last beast really well, the goblins with the knife is also really nice

color experiments are really nice here, the fire beast is a really well executed color piece i think

dtran: thanks allot, i am working on it :xpld:

Beelow: whaddup budddeee, i figured it was about time to put some stuff together and such and junk. working on a folio so figured what the hey, might as well start something up here. :)

Mika.K: hehe i wonder if i will get to color it. i have quite a bit on my plate right now with school looking for work making a folio and i want to start helping out a friend organize a better life drawing program here at OCAD. we need some serious direction here :| but ill try! :P

chrishly: thanks allot i hope to see you back soon! :)

Jens: i looked at your site and i must say, thanks allot man means allot. i been having problems carrying over from traditional mediums to digital. as i am sure many have stumbled here and i am not the only one. its allot easier to draw traditionally then it is digitally at least draw and maintain a unique look. :P

Got to say Im really enjoying your pencil characters. Would love to see more. Most of them look smudged real bad, or is that the way you wanted them to look. If not, try to get some fixitive, hairspray works just fine too. Cant wait for more.

Very nice works

Slav
February 24th, 2007, 10:50 PM
Envisor: yea i know i didnt really bother to cleaning em up. i guess the fact that the arts store next to OCAD was out of HB leads and i got 2B instead so yea they get pretty muddy :) but i guess the fact that i am smudge master zero doesn't quite help it either.

designboot: thanks for dropping in man.

i am just wondering has anyone really had problems reacting to what people say about their work? it seems, to me anyways, that i unintentionally come off as a jackass. maybe its because i am sick and are not thinking straight, worse still over analyze everything. but if you guys can share something, anything, about that i would great appreciate it.

Wolfbane
March 15th, 2007, 07:56 PM
WHoa, inspired now! thanks alot for sharing, you've got a real talent there!

March 15th, 2007, 08:03 PM
cool stuff!
latest digis are nice!

about coming off as a jackass, personally i make sure not to hehe
it can be easy to fall down that hatch but writing one or two extra words to clarify usually do the trick hehe

keep on sharing!
cheers!

Slav
March 17th, 2007, 05:29 PM
thanks wolfbane, i hope to keep on doing so. i hope you'll be back soon.

thanks bjorn, yea i agree on the internets or through email its easy to avoid that type of thing. but i was just sitting there the other night just thinking back on how i react in real life, and was just wondering... would it be best to just keep silence, just say thanks and take the compliments, i like critiques that much more because they are easy to react to as opposed to something complimentary. i dont want to end up like most of the folks i see here at my school, so i try to watch what i say and what i do but it seems like all i end up doing is coming out quite course. i donut mind most of the time because it makes me different from everyone there, but at times its just depressing because its hard to socialize with anyone here because everyone has their own little groups social hierarchy of sorts. that and the profs make me feel like i am some kind of social abomination. i guess i am complaining a bit too much. sorry. carry on.

Slav
March 25th, 2007, 09:33 PM
a small update. was going through some old work and i decided to bring new life into one of the pieces.

Beelow
March 26th, 2007, 02:17 AM
Yeah, it is hard to get the attention of guys here a bit. So I am in the same boat as you. They all have their little groups here. But, just stick it out Yaroslav, everyone will eventually start rolling in here. Just stick around a bit. We are both regulars at cgsociety, that may be an issue to hehe, who knows. I guess once everyone starts to see you as a familiar here, then everyone will come. I am not very popular here so dont worry. Just know that I support you and your work. I like some of those pencils dude. About the jackass thing, as hurri said, just clarify what you say and let them know what the deal is and let them know that your not being an ass I guess. Holla.XD

if you can elaborate what you mean by structure that would be soo awesome you have no idea. it will give me something to work on. at least something distinct.

saa
December 28th, 2007, 01:23 PM
I'll try to explain what I mean on the basis of your latest painting. While, as I said, the composition (more precisely the abstract color masses) leads the eye around very well - you seriously have a very good feel for that -, the underlying structure isn't clear. It's especially apparent at the top right corner of the image, and in general I can't tell for sure how some of the elements of the picture are positioned in space. Maybe it is a matter of finish, it can be that you leave the part of making the structure clearly readable to the last stage of painting. What I'm trying to say is that you could think about reorganizing your steps in painting/ drawing. Until now you concentrated on composition, to the relation of color/value masses. Try to incorporate more structure behind it.

I'm not saying that you should render everything to death, or draw/paint more clearly. This isn't a thing of rendering, it's just about the image that you have in your mind. The way you imagine the things you draw/paint affects your handling to a great extend. I'm not sure if I'm making this clear to you, anyhow I hope it helps. Cheers!

ahh noo! i was just looking at the girl in the bathroom with the robots, and saw the reccomendation for the lazer shine, then after the reccomendation. i think it was much better before the lazer shine.
