This is the design I'm going with for the Dominance War competition. I wanted to get away from sci-fi, which I do all day. :)

This character is part of the “ancients” faction. They are joining the DW to stop the destruction caused by the other, lesser societies. They will put an end to the war wiping out their enemy.

Deemer [judge] carries a large column that has the ancient commandments inscribed on it. He uses it to bring judgment to those that have broken the laws. The column is chained to his gauntlet allowing him to throw it and retrieve and swing it around.

I'm curious to get feedback on the design. Keep in mind this will be made into a game ready character. If I can find time to do it. :)

Lookin good Josh!
Why not pushing the contrast a bit more? It appears a bit flat to me..
Thanks for sharing,

Really nice. Though it looks a little bit too big for him to swing around, even with a bit of imagination :)
Like the painting though! alot !

I like this sort of warrior with a big weapon!

man, he is exactly the kind of opponent i would love to have to work to defeat in a game.

awesome tattoos, and i like his chest, but his arm seems too thick; like another sub-chest, you know?

awesome pillar. cool inscriptions. and the skull-shadow in the end is a nice touch

Pretty cool, but if you were trying to get away from sci-fi, I dont think you succeded because it still looks pretty sci-fi. I think its the armor and and the boots. They look too unatural and the armor looks manufactured.

I like the image and I think this guy could be alot of fun to play!

however, I agree with ElvisMcVegas about his costume looking SF instead of ancient.

I'm also gonna bust out my (not very well hidden) history nerd and beat up on your column: the wedge-shaped Cuneiform that you used was typically marked in wet clay which was then baked(although there's no reason it couldn't be carved into stone), BUT it was written left-to-right which should wrap horizontally around the column, not vertically. Also most civilizations built columns from segments of stacked stone cut to the same pattern because quarrying and cutting and shaping single-piece columns was much more difficult. This last bit isn't so much a crit as a suggestion: what if the chain runs the length of the interior of the column and he can choose to break it apart into a mult-piece flail like Ivy's whip-sword in Soul Caliber?

I really enjoy the design, but i would like to see the contrast pushed more.
When u mentioned that the column is chained to him and he can swing it around, my mouth dropped as i imagined it. That is rather hardcore. I would like to see the chain connect to his gaunlet though. Also give thought to wrapping the chain around the column and then all around his body and arms, that would give a cool effect to it. I would love to see that personally.
Where can i see other entries for this competinion? link please?

Wow, really great, looks totall badazz. However, mabye its just dejavue but i think ive already seen some character like that in an arcade game before. The character had a giant pillar and smashed things, i think it was samauri showdown, or maybe im just crazy.

SWEEEEEEEET. Man this is jam-packed with details. Nicely done. And he feels powerful but without being overly cartoony.
