Hi Everyone,

It has been a while since I posted here. The Artwork around here is amazing. With my recent job layoff I am now doing some shameless self promotion. I finally got some new artwork on my website. I know it has been a while. My website is still “work in progress”. All comments and suggestions are welcome.

Hey Amador
I’m the same Hong Ly teaching at Gnomon. Feng Zhu and I are teaching the Saturday production design 1 class. We’re having a fun quarter. I’m covering Character Designs while Feng will be covering Industrial Designs portion of the class. Both of us will be covering many aspects of digital media such as Photoshop, Painter and 3d programs use in production design. It gonna a lot of fun.

See yeah soon

Hey “Gasmask”
This is the nature of the video game industry. We worked 6-7 days a week with lots of over time. Without a sudden notice out project could get cancel. I still love the video game industry and don’t mind the long hours. I just wish it was a little bit more stable.

Wow! Great work. Inspiring!

I've seen this character in a screen shot for some game that was in production a while ago.
Centaur (http://www.characterdesigns.com/pages/Texture_Wrath_Centaur.htm)

What game was it for? Is it still coming out? I was really impressed by it when I first saw the image. I never heard anymore about it. If I recall, it may have been an Xbox game.

Yeah Hong I tried getting into that class but they told me that the class got full the first day I think it was and when I called a week later their were 11 people on the waiting list. So I am taking the Vis Comm class right now, I figure it would set me up for the Production design1 class.

Is their anything I should be catching up on before I take your class? Material I should read or study?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Amador: Just bring a pad of white paper, gray markers, pens and pencils. I like to have my students draw with a dark marker. This way they get uses to working faster. If you have a portfolio, bring that to class. I like to see where my students are standing and their interest.

Anoon: The Centaur is used in a game developed for Lucas Arts and for the X-Box system named “Wrath Unleashed”. We posted early screen shots of this project to get some hype. The game is looking good and should be release before Christmas of this year.

just some comments..

on the top right pic, the woman's right leg seems a bit too large...although it could be perspective, i dont know.

the third block down, the monster looks somewhat 2D. The uncolored version has the 3D effect but it is lost in the coloring somehow. im not a professional artist, so i wouldnt know what to change, but i can see it..

anyways, great artwork, i could never do artwork this well to save my life :).

Hi Guys/Gals
This was posted weeks ago. Since that time I had couple job offers and I finally took one. Knowing 3D is very important for today’s job market. I spend more time at work texturing and modeling than concepts designs. The reality of the video game industry. Luckily am I now working concept artist once again…. Yeah! This site is a tremendous resource and I’m glad to be part of it! Thanks.
