Hello ConceptArt.org! I'm currently in high school and I'm starting to look around at some art schools around the area. I still have a few years to make my final choice, but starting early won't hurt. My dream job would be making concept art for the movie and video game industry. Especially Nintendo. My art teacher agrees that I'd be pretty good in the concept art area. The closest art school that I know of is the Art Institute of Chicago. Other than that, I'm kind of clueless in where to go. Unless I go to a regular college. But I'd want to make a living in art. Any help is greatly appreciated! =]

I'm the Director of Max the Mutt Animation School in Toronto. Our website is www.maxthemutt.com. We were founded 10 years ago by artists and animators and our mandate has always been to be available to talent. Tuition is much less than US schools ($9500 Canadian per year) and the standards and quality of education are very high. If you look at the web site and have more questions, feel free to contact me or Van Olson, Admissions Director at admissions@maxthemutt.com, or phone us at 1-877-486-MUTT.

Im assuming you mean the school affiliated with the museum and not the art institute chain. If you're looking into production art (or want to improve your skills in general) you might find SAIC disappointing. If you want to learn how to arrange your found objects and after the fact bs a justification for why its art i highly recommend it. As with any school theres plenty you can get out of it if you take it upon yourself but i have not seen nor heard of enough positive things regarding the undergraduate programs to justify the tuition. on the bright side ive heard they accept just about anybody willing to pay. peace.
