cool a new sketch, makes my day.
Mr. sweet how do you take these simple sketches to get your finshed pieces? What i mean is , isee these great sketches, and i see these great finished paintings but i'm not quite sure what goes on in between?

his head has some really nice form goin on-- i think he could be more massive though , he feels more like a zombie with that pose ( or maybe its the cheek bone and white teeth/mouth that make me think "zombie")

glad to see your posting here

Damn you, he was my favorite too!

Anyway, wonderful piece, I can't tell. The roughness and perfection is simply amazing, I just love it.

thanks guys.
jrr:I'll do a little demo and since hulk is on my mind, i'll put him in a scene. nothing to fancy (not that i'm ever fancy mind you) but as time allows i'll try and put up a 10 stage or less thing. I'll start it tomorrow.

your right about him being to skinny.

I used to collect all the Buscema Hulks when i was a kid.

fluid lines with a solid color construcion inside, impressive style to say at least. the fact this hulk isnt as "big" as the original concept doesnt influence the image, you can see perfectly this hulk smashing stuff.

if you work this image out to the detail, you can have my babies.

It's like looking at a good underpainting. There's not much there, but you can already tell it's bad assed.

I love this and can't wait to see the w.i.p

*Adds hulk to the JSweet folder*

Btw, is this done in ps or painter so far?

Btw (2) what school did you study at? What's your artistic background (schooling wise)?

you made my day mr. sweet :)

i find it so dazzling how easy you make it look to just slam some color on the sketch and there you are with believeable, living, glowing, green skin.

can't wait for that step-by-step.

inky: there are spots where you see that the strokes show that specific painter dab-based look. it's looking like just overlaying one dab after the other after a certain amount of spacing. you can see it where he used larger brushes.

also sometime could you enlighten me on what you use for your ink and or black and white work such as you have on your site.......curious about those inks
and also enjoy seeing the paint with the sketch of the hulk.......

Amazing man, truely awesome, inspiring stuff. Lines lines I love your lines.

A thread you started a while back got resurfaced recently and your work gave me fresh motivation to have a go at that really free, keep it simple style of base sketching.
Because of that I've done a few pages that I'm really happy with, WHEN I manage to get them uploaded I'd be stoked for you to see them.. just for you to see the influence you can have, if nothing else. (they'll be in the daily sketch section along side alot of previous works sometime in the near future)
I have a feeling I may not have written this had it not been for the generous amount of beer I've had.

Surely you've more sketches, quick or not, personal or otherwise that you've amassed over the last couple years or so that we haven't seen?. Apart from the icewind intro works and the few you've posted here there hasn't been much.

The hulk was one of my favorites also, i enjoyed the issues were the grey hulk and the light green hulk faught it out and then merged into uber green hulk... oh those were the days...
