hi everyone,
a Photoshop matte painting made for an interactive presentation. Done entirely in Photoshop, with a rough shape model for the house thrown together for angle establishment in a 3-D program. I had to do it this way because there are subsequent images (matte paintings as well) that show closer shots of the house. So the rough model was created to maintain a consistent look between shots.
But what you see here is all paint in Photoshop.

nice work. very convincing especially at a glance, which is the whole point, no? ;)
the tree just behind the building and the garbage bags start to break down a bit (not look as "real" as the rest) upons closer inspection, but still really well done.

no way are those mountains real, are they? Dang this is like hyper-realistic. Take care of those trees though, they make it lose some of that realism.

hey Genconfusion, I had to stare at that one for awhile. It looks like my part of the world. I am almost convinced that's my backyard. See?http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid69/p5f08049cf663d23a2629b454e18335a7/fbb9d0ef.jpg

It's stunning! Amazing use of atmosphere.
There is a battle in this painting though between the photorealistic background and more painterly foreground. Both styles look nice, I guess it depends on what you are trying to achieve as to which way the painting should end up.

IMAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED/OVERWRITTEN
Atomicfate - :chug:
jerO - I fixed those issues, based on the general opinion, but good catch, I appreciate it
incognito - it's all painted and the tress have been fixed, what do you think?
Kisa - where are you from? thanks for the compliment!!!
LC3 - you think the foreground is painterly??? Actually it may not be seen when it is input to it's animation, so I'll see when I get to that point if it needs fixing, but I will keep it in mind...

It's convincing! You have to look carefuly to spot the few quirks. How big is this? Is it going to be printed on something, or just added to the movie in digital post effects?

I've been lurking for awhile. I really appreciate all the artists on this site sharing their work with the world. I had to comment on your piece because it just seems so familiar to me. I live in west Texas, about 80 miles north of Del Rio and the Mexican border. The geography of our area is very interesting, characterized by perpetual rolling hills and deep valleys, oak trees, and weathed old establishments.
