Ok, i am 21 years old and studying multimedia design now. I am interested in character design and concept designer for game company , it always been my dream . But a professional game artist named Seedling said that one should look at what jobs are available in the games industry because in some other games industry job for a few years , one's chance of moving into the role of concept artist within a company or at another company will be higher
In this case i would like to be a animator and in the final year of my diploma i will major in animation. So what aspect should i be focusing or learn ??? Advise pls:[

You're paying for all of it, so try to learn a bit of it all, right? Concept art is a wide range, so are you talking about film, games, animation...?? This will help determine whether 3D or 2D is your focus.
Seedling is absolutely right, though. I went to a Dreamworks PDI presentation a couple weeks ago and the director said that they had THREE character designers for their 6 films in-production--and those guys had been with the company since the beginning. Character design is something EVERYONE wants to do and those jobs are extremely rare to find.

If you want to be an animator, then after you learn core, you're focus will be 3D (a far cry from the 2D concept work you want to do...so try and keep your drawing skills healthy on the side). Also, keep in mind that animation is NOT modeling or texture design. It's using someone else's work and setting it to motion.

Can you draw? Do you have a solid grasp of traditional representational art skills including perspective, structural drawing, representational painting? No one can answer you because its not clear what you're bringing to the table. My guess is that you may need to develop your skills first.

If you can only be happy designing characters and doing other concept art, then you may only be happy as a concept artist. However, if you enjoy modeling and texturing too, there are typically more modeler/texturer jobs available then any other art job.

3D modelers use 3D modelling programs, such as Maya, 3D Max, Lightwave, etc. Textuters use 2D painting programs, such as PhotoShop. Usually the two jobs are done by the same person.
