I like the look of those cards. The knight is very solid looking with that square'ish form (well done) and the queen of diamonds is well-suited by her frills-included throne. I'm looking forward to seeing them progress.

Thata boy! The card ideas are great. It's nice to see something start to materialize itself. Keep the work coming brother, and get hot on the Avatar. I'm watching you:)

here is the queen of spades. still having trouble with the foreshortening of the legs and arms a bit to make a believable sitting pose. I'm going to look around and see if I can find some reference photos of straight on sitting. any tips would be great! more soon.

Some good cartoon sytle characters. Looks like your pretty comfortable drawing that way. Maybe push some more realistic proportions (8 heads tall instead of the 5 or 6 head tall ratio you are currently using), unless you really enjoy hand animating in which case really keep on in the direction your going even push a walk cycle if possible.

Great work overall, I really enjoyed the card theme drawings.

yeah, I cant seem to shake this sort of cartoony style. even my life drawings tend to take an element of it. I think a lot of it stems from that I dont draw from life nearly as much as I need to. once I get a little further with this card idea I think I'll start some life studies.

Nice start, keep practicing the anatomy and if you feel that you need to do more life drawings, then you probably do, so get to it and keep posting :] And welcome to SSG#39!

The skin is really coming along nicely on the queen of Spades. It has a warm feeling to the lighting right now. Maybe a little high contrast with everything else might boost her skin glow out further. Looking really good so far! You have to finish this ONE!!!

ops, i didnt realize we had a new member in our ssg, hehe sorry bout that.
looks cool, i really like the sketches, and the last digital paint looks great.
but i think you need some contrast in that image, and also use bigger brushes.
i think you should get rid of the white background, but thats just a personal thoguht.
keep at it!

you got some nice stuff here (really like those cards). But is that queen of spades slowly falling to the side or is it just me? :)

FINISH IT!!!!!!!!

Keep working man, don't slow down and don't be afraid of being more aggressive with the brush strokes, if something bothers you then paint over it and don't keep anything just because it's already done. I like the rendering of her right hand the best right now, it got the best feel of volume :)

I know what you mean by going slow, but keep at it get it to a level your happy with then move on. Trick is not to spend too long on it, but also to spend enough time to learn the most you can from it.

really good studies Chilli. Your proportions are really looking good. With your really sketchy pieces take a ballpoint pen and tracing paper and try pick out the lines you want. If you pick the wrong line don't go over it again, just grab another piece of tracing paper and try again. This might help improve your line quality as well as get you comfortable with a more exact method of using line.

Sketchy stuff is great for exploring form your own mind, but from reference we all should be aiming at clean linework or sharp edges (if drawing via bulk). I personally struggle with cleanliness but its what makes a piece looked finished.

The beast awakens! NOw tighten up those lines :)

theres just a wee bit of inclination in your figure drawings. you might want to just draw a straight line first with a ruler (lightly and then make a break down on that.

after a while you see that line invisibly and it doesnt matter :)

you do have some really great concepts - i cant wait to see them evolve.

also i would advice that you sort of incline your drawing board around 35-35 degrees up and then draw on it. it prevents slanted figures.

drawing flat ruins the perspective of the figure.

Nice man, but i feel that you lack of construction, so i think you need to practise more anatomy and construction, to really push yourself further.

good stuff

The blue pencil seems to be really working for you. Much cleaner work, well done.
