Iridyse, excellent work..I saw your step by step..next time start with an outline drawing..all classical painters started with it..it was of much importance to have a perfect outline..just like coloring a drawing.. it was the structure of a painting.. you started to refine the drawing while painting..which is good..but it is much challenging having a pure outline one..look at his drawings..always finelly done... like my teacher told me..he was an illustrator..and I can see why now..:) Also on your nude..which is superbly done..look at the curve of the buttocks..on the original..there are tiny little brakes..is not pure curve..watch closer..also in the body there are little veins subtlely done..very hard to see but they are there..i think you are at a level to put those..hehe..or am I nickpicking??

wow, very nice. I thought you posted the ref first....sheesh. I've been too scared to attempt a bouguereau copy myself in oils. I want to learn digital but I'd have to get my own computer first. Now I'm salivating to get one.

Seedling: Thanks :)

the_allejo05 : You're right of course. It's just that it is so difficult and tedious to get a decent line quality in the digital medium that a while ago I stopped line-sketching and started mass-sketching. The portrait was done last year, so you can see me struggle quite a bit there through the steps. I'm a little more careful on how I place my strokes now :) As for the veins, I can't see them :-/ But I will keep your comments in mind when I do my next painting, I need to develop lots more patience.

escape2mars : Thanks! I wish I could do one in oils too, I just don't have the space for it. Bouguereau is so wonderful :)

Arokh : Thank you!

Josef Sy: Thanks!

Andronicus2814 : Hm, it was a while ago but even otherwise I can't keep a track of how long I work on an image. I'm usually rather fast when I actually paint, but I take so many breaks in between. Thanks! :)

motives: Thank you!

jasrdunn : Thank you very much!

DecktillDawn : Thanks! The process shots are in the first post. For the second image I didn't really save too many in-between shots so I posted the large version. The second one was mostly an exercise in painting broken highlights digitally.
