Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something... Silver-ish

I like the old Doctor Who stuff. Currently I'm trying to redesign most of the well known designs and some of the obscure. Feel free to suggest any obscure favourites you like.

Design comments:

There was a hose going asymetricly across the shoulder on an old
concept art piece, I wanted have that asymetry to break up the
bilateralism.

The bandy balls on the joints are from The Moonbase.

The joint tubes and tight diving suit are from The Wheel in Space.
The chest/shoulder (lower pecs) have a hard edge to them,
giving the impression that there's not a soft body under the suit there.

The bandages are from The Tenth Planet, but I moved them to the wrists
to break up the suit into parts, which serves to enhance the cyborg
look. It also makes them look a bit like walking dead with a violent
medical history.

The face is from the new 2006 series Cybermen. If the steel mask is
removed a bandage face from The Tenth Planet can be seen.

The horns are an experiment.

The gun is devenloped from The Tenth Planet belly flash weapon.

The rust material on the horns are from a spaceship seen in The
Revenge of the Cybermen. I also use this material on my Cybermen
spaceship designs.

I like Gun Metal / Brushed Metal. I don't like shiny silver.

First - ABSOLUTE GLEE. I love Doctor Who, and seeing this awakens the fanboy in me.

Two - I like the idea of the walking dead/machine creature. Particularly horrific when you think of what happens with the new Cybermen in Season 2.

Three - I'm not so sure about the horns. They look a little silly. There's something about the handlebars that is simply iconic.

Overall I think it really catches bits and pieces of the old cybermen quite well. Though maybe some more obvious cyber-bits would make quite a cool anachronism...

Yay, a Cyberman! You want to redesign old monsters? Well how about the Ice Warriors? The Zygons, The Monster of Pelador, the Draconians or The Master himself! Omega would be cool too... God I'm sad!

He's very cool! Although the gun looks like the headlight off an old Morris Minor! :)

Janshi> I'm not sure if the Alternative Universe Cybermen really are cybermen, they were built and not evolved on Mondas like the originals. There are some older episodes of people being converted into cybermen though.

Yeah I'm worried about altering the head design... I tried some versions but didn't get it to work.

I haven't though much about Omega or the Master, they're both characters and I'm doing races. I'm not yet familiar with the Zygons or Draconians. Draconians look a bit too Babylon 5. I've only seen a few pics of Zygons, maybe I should check em out. There's also those... Silurians, they have cool voices.


My fav doctors are 2nd and 4th, but the 1st one is funny too, although a bit senile and nonsensical.

Fav companions are Zoe Heriot (2nd) and Leela (4th)
