How do the 3D Buzz DVDs compare to the old free VTMs for Maya / 3ds max? Are the old ones still worth watching? Or do the new DVDs cover everything in the old free VTMs and more? Also, how is your learning experience with the 3D Buzz DVDs? I'm mostly interested in learning more modeling skills. Thanks.

Jason Busby does a great job at helping to educate people for free, but compared to the Lynda and Gnomon series and other video tutorials I've consumed, I've always found the 3D Buzz VTMS to be really slow and shallow. I don't know what the quality of his DVD's are though, but if they're anything as chatty and empty as the free VTM's I wouldn't waste my money on them. Even though George Maestri has the most boring and monotonous voice I've ever heard, he still manages to put across info better than those VTMs in my opinion.
Although I've found video tutorials to be priceless over the years, I don't see how you can learn more modelling skills from one. Once you know the basics and the buttons it's just something you need to practice to get good at - no amount of video tutorials will help you with that.

those 3d buzz dvds are also extremely lengthy compared to the lynda videos. so curious if theyre also worth the time spent viewing them. or if i can get the same amount of info in better videos elsewhere

I have been realising this more and more. It doesnt matter what 3d App I use the only obstical is just locating the right tools and maybe some extra helpful tools the app has to offer. The Digital Tutor series are very good as well. They may seem a bit boring at times, and basic. But, they do a great job with explaining things.
