28-this last one i shot in RAW which i usually dont do. i edited it with adobe lightroom. i know the whites are as bright as they should be or as bright as the whiles in other pictures. but when i tried to go back and lighten it a bit more i didnt like the way it looked. so other then that i would yreally appreciate comments on this one

Many of these are really quite nice. I wish 2 had a less shalow DoF -- I want to see the plug in focus. I think if you're going for that clean, modern look it would work better. 4: Great lines, but I don't like the crop. 5 is gorgeous. 9 also looks great, like one of those Japanese post cards. 19: nice pic, and I promise not to make any jokes about a pearl necklace...tee-hee-hee. Can't see 21-25.

thanks :)
for number 2 it was kind of hard not to really...since i was using my lightbox and wanted a certian angle on it but i see what you mean :)
4- what dont you like about the crop? how do you think it could have been better?
19- i dont get it lol why are there jokes about pearl necklaces?? and besides thats not even a pearl necklaces :P lol its plastic
can you see 21-25 now???
thanks agian :)

Number 5 is wonderful, I'm not sure about the message you were trying to send but I think a slightly tighter crop, focusing more on the passage between the trees there would make it much more forboding. Very well done as is though, I love it.
16 is also well done, the lighting fits the mood of the picture wonderfully, the shoulder in the background is a little weird though...looks like you (you in the picture or a friend?) were twisting funny.
Something about 9 isn't agreeing with me. It's a nice shot, but I don't like how distant the shack is. To each his own though, it's a nice landscape.
I think number 4 could've done with a crop that focused on just the waterfall without the forest behind it, I can see it would've been an issue trying to get both logs fully in the picture while cropping out the forest though. Nice capture overall, beautiful
I think number 1 is my favorite of your headphone series. Simple yet effective.
Great stuff, quality work =)

#2) Lightboxes have nothing to do with what I'm talking about, I'm speaking of f/stops.
#4) Too much tension/conflict at the right edge of the photo, jarring effect.
As for the pearl necklace, it doesn't really matter if its reall or not...tee-heeheee...my point stands. But I promised not to make any jokes...tee-heeh eee
I can see all of the photos now

Pygmy - i see what you mean with number 5 a lot actually thanks ill have to try it out :)
16 (self portrait) and i actually dont remember lol...but yer right it does look odd
9 yeah i wish it was closer too...
4 my only issue with cropping out the forest would have been that it would be too long and imo look odd....maybe after winter ill go back and reshoot it :)
and thanks!!!
eazym -
2 i had the fstop at 7.1...what would you suggest i set it to??
le gab - um why??? is that just personal opinion cause i was more loooking for critiques thanks tho

Gabriel! macro can be sorta good, well, close up images, you can play with sort of basic blocks of colour, that's just one advantage... there's much to it.
Bias, tsk...
(17... remember that number Gab, 17.)
And Kendra, nice to see your stuff, too much to really comment on it right now, not enough time, toodles!
[Kendra, don't get offended by Gab, he's not an offensive person, he just likes to see more than macro, infact he's positively anti-macro... yes, you have the all clear, you may kill each other over ideology now.]

For the look I'm thinking of, it would hover around f16 or so, that way the plug would be in-focus as well.

Yeah, actually I'm all cute and cuddly on the inside. Just that really, really, really deep down inside.
Sorry for taking the time to reply. I do realise that i was a bit vague. Well, anywayz, mostly macro photography kills composition.
The way i see it: get some real macro lense and a powerfull slr and get some mindblowing shots or just drop it. You see, macro is all about detail and shooting macro without the propper gear is preety much like serving Cabernet Sauvignion to sheep. Bears... Monkeys. Well, you get it.
There is another kind of macro that tat doesnt really need huge ammount of details. Abstract macro. but that's another glass of Cabernet all togheter. :)
Kudos!

Here goes honest, honest... :)
62: I like the soft focus, but the blurred part in the middle is a bit distracting. I think some more contrast would also help too.
63: I like the colors, but a better composition (portrait format) would make it stand out more.
64: Nice contrast here, but the composition is fighting to get through. Maybe a reshoot trying a landscape format as well should be in the works. I would say crop some of the left side, but that would kill the sky element.
65: Beautiful contrast here. :) I would probably crop out the small black triangle shadow at the bottom.
66: I really like the colors and contrast, but I think a landscape format would have worked better. The portrait format is kinda squishing your composition. It would be ok if both sides had trees.
67: BEAUTIFUL!! :)
68: Same thing here! :)
Hope that helps... I had to turn on my nitpicking switch for ya. :) Overall, I think you should work on your composition and then everything else will flow out naturally. :) This update was a nice mixture of techniques, stick to doing a mixture of things!

thanks so much for the feedback i really appreciate it!
62- i totally agree...sadly all i ahve to shoot macros with are filters and they arent the best thats why the center is blury :(
64- i have a version of it in landscape format but i just dont like the overall look of that version of it http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/Ziarre69/6-1-070952.jpg i edited it a little differently, but yeah lol
66- hehe i have landscape version of this too. there actualyl wasn't as many trees on the other side, at elast not from my position http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/Ziarre69/6-9-10-071282.jpg

it's been a while i know.
but i finally got around to getting some film developed. some of these are older and some are newer and im still trying to learn as much as i can with film so please any comments or critiques i would really appreciate!
for film I use a Nikon N50 with a 35-80mm Nikkor AF lens and for film i use Kodak professional Black and White 400 ISO film.
in a lot of my photos, the highlights are a bit bright cause i'm not sure how to judge what to set film to so i use my SLR to judge first and then set my N50 and i always forget that my N50 is 400ISO film and my DSLR is set at 200ISO
anyways.
onto photo.

69, 70 & 78 - I love these! The only thing that's holding them back are the highlights/contrast. I think the whites can be pushed a bit brighter without losing your softness.
The "trick" with B/W photography, is that when you're looking through the viewfinder, you want to compose/arrange based on light to dark, not colors. My photo prof told me that in most cases, you should have both a pure white and a pure black in a B/W photo (#71 is a great example of this). Of course if you're going for a soft photo, or a Frank Miller style the contrast rules vary a bit.
74 & 75 are just a matter of finding a less busy background (or an extremely shallow DOF) and cropping.
Keep working that film!

Really nice contrast and textures in 79 & 80. :)
I like 81 as well. I think the DOF could have been a bit larger on the stem thingy though.
Nice work in 83-86. I really like the contrasting red and greens more than the red/oranges in 87.

I know this isn't much of a critique, but I just got this craving for cocoa...

Nice work in 91 & 92.
93 is nice as well, but the angle makes me a little dizzy though.
Nice try in #94. I think in order to push the essence of high key, maybe try focusing on one part of the mug/plate (closeup/macro?) with a dash of color. With so much of the brown label showing, it doesn't feel like a high-key photo to me.

Congrats! I need a remote too. I like #101. I think for the other portraits you should play around with the compositions/poses more and try to use different lighting.

Yay. :) That one has the best mood out of the claustrophobic series. It uses the soft color tones nicely as well.

I like 108 a lot. The angle rocks XD and the dress.
