Hi, I'm gonna try to not sound like the million other guys before me, but I'm afraid thats going to be rather difficult.
Recently (about a month ago) I set my first steps with photoshop, as you will see in the picture. But since I am now officialy in the exam-period, I try not to get distracted by anything, although that also is rather difficult.
anyway, I'm gonna keep it short. check this out, and tell me what's gonna have to be my next step.
the first one is a sketch done oldskool, with pencil on paper, and that, I have touched with a little photoshop.
The second one is my firts attempt to combine aquarel (I have a terrible technique) and ink in another quick sketch.
and the last one is a quick sketch of a templar having a drink in a cosy bar. The last two are totaly non-computer.
although this is my first post, I think I must be brave, and ask you guys to go hard on me. cause looking at the other artworks, it seems like I have a long way to go!

good effort. welcome to ca.org. :)
well in general.. the anatomy of all the figures.. are a little wack. well they aren't bad... but they aren't that good either.. well i don't know a lot about anatomy.. maybe someless could give u some constructive advice.
but okay.. the chairs and tables.. out of perspective on the last drawing. when u draw tables and stuff.. make sure u have a vanishing point in mind (or on paper). right now the lines are diverging. :0
kk.. now draw more. ;)

yeah, you're right. the postures are rather sloppy. but I'm working on that.
Now, about the perspective: should you always work with the "vanishing point-perspective", or are there situations where you use another perspective, that doesnt imply the vanishing point? Ok, I admit, the fact that the lines go astray is pretty wierd: I had a good laugh about it, cause I never noticed it myself.
thx anyway, appreciate your comments!

I like the first one, I'm crap in photoshop but i am learning. In the second one the man with the knife has shot legs and a long body. But all round i think it is mondo coolio (cool).

thanx for the comment! and, damn, do you mind if I steal your "mondo coolio" ? I hope not, cause I'm gonna start using this one in my vocabulary! that is one bloody cool way to say "cool" :D

there we go:
this one I've started not so long ago. and till now, it is still an all-ink work. I'm not sure I'f Im gonna paint the two figures, but the background is going for a green bamboolike colour. so here you go: two samurai's duelling in a bamboo-forest. ok, I partially stole the idea from a scene in the animatrix, and partially from another scene in "house of the flying daggers".
again: what ya think?
ow, yeah, it was a little too big for my scanner, so that explanes the wierd pose of the paper... sorry

the jumping one's right hand does not appear to be holding the sword at all, as well as his feet are a little wierd

I made the jumping guy deliberatly not hold his sword thight, but realy relaxed. it accentuates the difference between both guys. the jumping one is also laughing a little, cause he is very sure of himself and of his skillz, a little arrogant actually. he's toying around with the other guy. so, as long as the jumpy guy is playing around, he's gonna swing his sword, without actually trying to hit-and-kill the other guy. but when he's had enough, suddenly his hand is gonna tighten around that sword, and in a matter of eyeblinks, he's gonna take the other on down. till that moment: everything's relaxed and chilly.
I wonder, would the drawing match the story, or would the story match the drawing? maybe I'm good at inventing story's to cover up my mistakes/shortages in my drawings... that would suck :er:
yeah, the feet arent equal in length, if that is what you mean...

no more that the arch of the foot is a little bit long as well as the difference in size.
