I acquired some nature photography books over the last couple of weeks, to see if I can improve my environments. I am also taking more care with the brushwork, to see that it doesn't get "washed" during the painting process, making it an integral part of the whole painting. I also attached some detail images.

Very nice indeed!
It is nice to see someone doing something other than all fantasy based environments. I gotta be honest with you, some of those background designs with monsters and robots and space crafts are awfully unoriginal.
This is a refreshment-!

Hey andreasrocha,
Nice work! The variety in your brushwork is nice, yet...some of your brushstrokes work well, while others don't as much. I know you were trying to make sure that each stroke counts, and that you didn't get that "washed" effect, but to me the base of the mountain seems to have some of that "washed" effect you were trying to avoid. Now, I don't have very much painting experience at all, so my observations probably aren't that good when it comes to landscape paintings... but I would suggest refining some areas near the base of the mountain more with darker & less saturated paint, so that the subtleties you tried to show don't fade into everything else. You did a nice job with the water, I would suggest maybe highlighting areas of the trees, and making some of the areas in the foreground crisper and more defined, like the smoke near the base of the mountain (which looks fantastic btw).
Overall, you did a great job. :rendered:

Very very cool, makes me want to do some environments too :^^:
Deverion has a point though, the base of the mountain is a bit undefined, as is the forest/bushes behind the water.

This work would probably benefit from a progressive approach with the distant objects being less defined (and textural) and the foreground elements being more defined and easy to read... as it stands now it looks one-dimensional.
Best,
Jason.

Saw this one earlier on another forum.
Looks very nice to me.
I would suggest heavier brushstrokes in the foreground.
I find the image wonderful anyway.

Terrific job!
I would say that the mid-far ground seems a little over saturated. Things tend to decrease in contrast, lose a little saturation and increase in cool blue hues as they receed into the background.
Still a pleasure to look at.

Nice Painting.
The only thing i would crit is, that i cannot get a sence of scale and depth.
Im wondering is the foreground water a river or a puddle? is the small white spec's little rocks or suggestion of a village/town. you also have what looks like a figure on the right hand side, which tell's me different and if that is a crash vehicle, then it tell's me it's not a village in the foreground........I hope this makes sence.
So to me it's hard to work out what's what.
But very nice colours and brushstrokes :)
