hi everybody,
I need to practice more anatomy drawing and I was hoping I might get some good tips and critique here, after someone recommended this site to me. So here's a started sketch of an angel, upper body, face and part of the wings.
Characteristics of all my angels are that they are supposed to look like elves - tall, graceful features. This one is a female fighter angel.
Any tips for me? Proportions? I think the nose is wonky. ^^ Armour and more details will come later, I just need some help on shapes and so on for the first.
I'll update this thread with further results on this picture when I continue drawing her.
Any advice will be appreciated :)

P.S. scanning it made it turn out a lot lighter and sketchier than the original..

Good to see you here as well! :D

I can't do a paintover right now, but I can describe what's going on basically: Her face is stretched on the lower half, chin, mouth and nose too far foreward Ear looks a little to far back. Her breasts could stand to be lower. AND, if you're adding something to someone's body, make sure you add the apropriate muscles that need to move the new part. IE the wing. Try to get a few muscles around it (this is where studying anatomy helps also.

Have fun :)

hi,
i make a overpaint...

ok. the biggest problem was the face. if you draw it, make a helping linie from point 1. to point 2. the line is exectly on the begining of the nose and the begining of the ear. the second line (3. and 4.) have to be on the ending of the nose and the ending of ear. i draw a emotionless face, but you can try to add some emotions. the wings looks wrong but i cant help you with this.
i hope i helped you.

EDIT: sorry,Rhineville! . i need very long time to write the text befor i post, thats the reason whyi read your post too late. im sorry.

I did a quick paint over of the head with a redline for the skull since the body has already been spoken of. Hope this helps as a visual. :)

EDIT: Oh bugger! Sorry, I didn't see EmiR's post first! :o

Thanks everybody! especially for the visual help, I'm more of an optical learning person. :) I'll do some serious editing on her.
@Rhineville
ok, maybe I can look up some animals with large wings to help me with the appropriate muscles. Thanks for the tip, I never thought of that :)

Ok, as a first step, I redid the head and shoulders area.
How is this?

Update. I improvised mostly on the folds of the jacket, since I have no experience in drawing folds whatsoever ;)

One thing I can see on your latest pic is that her jaw seems to end behind her ear. It should end close to where the line at the bottom of the ear starts. Other than that, you've improved a lot in this thread.

Thanks everybody for the comments!!
Here's another update, I haven't worked on her for a few weeks now. Drawing hands is something I haven't mastered yet, so if anyone would like to help on that, please do :)
I apologise for the quality, I mucked up on the scanner settings today it seems.
