February 20th, 2007, 08:54 AM
Thanks , Delmar.
I increase the contrast in Photoshop, but I try to keep as many grey levels, as possible.

Here after a long pause some sketches and photoshopped pics:

At the moment I try to improve my Environment painting, but something is wrong with it. I just dont know what:\ :\ :\ , so comments and crits are very welcome so I can become better.

thx

Nice work, your paintings are amazing!
I don't know if i'm qualified to give advice, but when you draw with pencil if you start with very light lines, then when you are happy with the shape top it off with some smooth defined lines, your sketches will be much cleaner.

Keep it up! oh and thanks for comenting in my thread :)

Hey Troll, thanks for dropping by and giving me your encouragement! Don't think there's anything I can say that you can learn from haha, but just want to tell you still that your paintings are very nice and to keep up the good work!

I say, use more black. Not entirely in that kind of meaning, but don't be afraid of going through the rogh and sharp contrast when dealing with light, no matter the material on the thing you're drawing. A really dark shadow on the back of a metal helm will help you to relate of a really dark shadow on a filth grey/brown shirt.

Keep going :)

and small tip: take some more time for your pencil sketches. they look all a bit rough. just spend some more time on your hatchings...there is no need to hurry :)

That painterly style seems to suit you well. The landscapes look good. If you would train your pencils further I think it would show on the paintings also. Good work.

woooooooow I like your Sb dude!!
Really great stuff in here, the military stuff owns.
What about some girls *gg*

My main critics are your linequality, still to messy and the values.
I think you can improve alot on them.

Keep at it

Finally managed to draw some stuff and here is the update.

Couch Potato : Thanks for your kind words and keep drawing!
Sorknes: Thx, I considered your advice. Added more blacks, pushed the contrast a bit more. Looks better now, hehe.
Mr.Lyon: Thank you, feedback is always appreciated. Keep checking...:)
Tec: Thanks, I had to change my approach to drawing, to become more accurate. I tried hard to get a clean rendering this time.
mikehan! : Thank you
Antti : Your crits are very welcome. Thanks
Haxxxor : I am grateful for the advices, all crits will be considered. Keep drawing, too.
myalias : Thnx, to hear that from someone with such great drawing skills is most pleasant.

Well, keep visiting and leave your feedback here.:D :yayca:

damn! that astronaut and SP are fantastic! not much to say other than that... maybe try tightening up your digital stuff a little bit more, and not just always leaving it sketchy.

Hey Troll! Nice SB. Though I think you should work more on your line and drawing, your environments are very, very interesting, you achieve a good sense of feeling in most of them. I like specially the last one (broken ships and stuff). Keep it up!

Thanks, folks !:teeth:
Quite some time has passed since the last update. I cant really say I was too busy to post, just did not have a decent amount of pics worth showing. I feel that I improved , but still have to work on my execution as some of you said, above all on my environments. I hope I stop being that lazy bum and will finally become a part of this community.
Enough blabla, here is some stuff, enjoy!:blahblah:

The enviroments are sexual.
Keep drawing enviroments, except try to paint them a bit more carefully. I would love to see a HQ enviroment from you/

Good SB so far! The newest environments look the best. I think in the futuristic scene (above the river landscape) you should focus a bit more on the depth. The values of things in the midground and foreground dont depict their location in space as well as they could (faded podium and people on the right, they seem too desaturated, or the middle buildings a little dark in areas?) But none the less, good work and nice military stuff

Some pretty good stuff, I like it muchly. The only thing I have complaints about are the pencil pieces. Like a few other people have said theres not enough contrast in them and it makes them seem flat. I would try adding a few darker shades and brighter highlights to really make them pop.

All in all though I really enjoy your work, expecially the Humans 1:0 Aliens picture. it has great story in it and it makes you wonder what kind of victory it was.

hey troll, this SB's looking pretty good man.. some stiff anatomy issues, but i can see the improvements you've made from the beginning of the thread. it's also nice that you've been putting more contrast in your paintings, whereas before, they were too light. hope to see updates soon!

Hello!

Thank you, Fraz. Glad you like it, will do some HQ environments soon.
Christian - You are just too kind...
Chr!z- danke schön, Finntroll rulez \m/
Jakers- very helpful Crit, thank you. Aerial perspektive and depth are still pretty tough.
Newman- I appreciate your critique, is it still the issue in my new update?
Dabaers - thank you, you are an inspiration

here's a small update, crits welcome

That last one is very neat...how long did it take? Lighting/landscape reference? The yellow rock may be a tad bright, could have a bit more suggested shadows on it too. If anything, pull up the brightness on the train car catching the light, it looks nice over that shadowed area
