Hey guys.

I just joined CA after coming here on and off for a while. Its a great site by the way. I used to draw all the time when I was younger and I want to get back into. Anyways, I have a hard time drawing people without looking at something. I don't necessarily mean realistic portrait types but comic types and all that. So I was wondering if anyone had a good suggestion for a book, dvd, or website that could help me out.

Thanks

Edit: I apologize if the name of this threat sounds more like its offering help rather then asking for it. I also apologize if its not in the right forum, I couldnt find a better place.

This website has all kinds of tutorials just follow them. If you want to learn to draw comics I can't really offer much help but for people study anatomy. Nothing can replace knowing the skeletal structure and how it works, also you need to know proportions using the standard method of measurement ( how many heads tall) later on you will be able to start blocking in the shapes that are the most important. Use ref. pics because you need to know your subject very well before you can draw it from memory, make mental notes of the human body. After awhile try to do some drawings without ref. make note of what looks off then study it draw draw draw. There is no substitute for practice. I think before you start drawing the human body in a exagerated state you should first know how it looks in its normal state. But also draw from your favorite comics, knowing dynamic poses and such is a big help for comic art learn from them. Find who the artist is and look him/her up on the internet, maybe they would have some helpful hints/tips hope this helps.
