I thought I would start my own thread, as it seems our new Vancouver Sketchgroup was not really meeting as often as I wish. I miss learning new techniques from our little group.
Old Sketchgroup from Vancouver: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1072841&posted=1#post1072841
Anyways, here's my two sketches I did this afternoon.

Thats sick, I love seeing all sorts of stuff in your drawings. When I have a moment to spare, I'll take a piece out of your art and paint over what I see in it. You should do the same!

Sorta getting the hang of it. The Intous is helping.
I am relearning to simplify my brushes and play with only 3-4 brushes.

After reading Andrew Jones advice in the January 2007 issue of Imagine FX, I did some more speed painting. I would pick up Imagine FX, with the Dragon wrap around cover, it's worth it.

yo dude, keep em coming...I'm gonna try that android stuff tomorrow.
only crit I can give is that I think you might want more variation in tonal values...maybe even some more shading or outlines to make the object less flattened out...I'm referring to the speed paints...I'm gonna do some tomorrow
you're improving each time I see your stuff man...lets destroy seattle...or at least we'll try.
keep em coming
thats what I'll be doing myself
peace

Will try some base colors and definitions. I might save up for Dave Levy's SpeedPaint DVD from Gnomon.
As for Seattle, maybe we can just bruise their shins, as I feel like I may not be able to get a final picture out in time. I gotta look for a better job. I feel really stressed out from the PedroCanada.

Not for the faint of heart. I saw a monkey face and naked ladies. Combined the two.

Oh God! Manly-esque Women,
I can't recall why, but I couldn't stop drawing the Wimmens. I need a vacation.

Okay. Lost fav program, had to use other one. Sniff.
I figured out brushes I like in PS. Also figured out a method to lose detail and keep things simple.

R'John>Is that you when you were younger?
Yeah, about three years younger.

Cylonish, I know. It looks like a drawing that Baruka would do.
I will be doing some more, since I installed Corel's Painter Essentials, which is twice as fast as regular Painter.
It doesn't have any custom papers, and has a limited number of preset brushes. There is no traditional watercolor brushes, only digital.
I like it thought, it's faster and better on memory. I can blend faster with a couple of the brushes, unlike Photoshop.

Loving to learn Painter Essentials. Sweetness come with it being so fast and clean.
Started with the ugly warm-up fleshtone pic and then tried a few other techniques to establish a style.
Dang! Got a second wind listening to both some Techno and Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children music. Last two dragony sketches.

OKay, got say I love Painter Essentials more than Artrage. Yeah baby.
Took awhile for my brain to get into it, but managed to crank out three. I found some old reference pics from India I had grabbed from some Photo Stock website. I love the crazy colors.

Messing with R'John's Dhalsim drawing form the last session. Vector traced it, auto-mated, and got two different styles.
The top one, like a tattoo, was a custom setting I made, I think.
The bottom one, more comic like, was a default one.

I find this fun and edumacating.
I am learning to find more and more shapes thanks to Speed Painting. My traditional pencil sketches are taking on more definition, and I see more creatures and characters.
I am also picking up speed in my sketching due to Speed Painting. I roxor! :)
