Chameleon inspired? Pokémons?

Reminds me a tad of Falcoon's thingies stylewise.

How about only making the outer lines fat?

It's nice how the TRON-ish neon stripes helps suggesting the shapes.

One word that describes sparth as an artist- "Multifaceted" Anyone that can go from creating those awesome monster pieces to creating simple line art creatures has some serious skills.

Cute monsters. I like these. Are you familiar with Derekmonster (http://www.derekmonster.com) .
He draws a monster a day.

Sparth have you ever heard of a computer game coming out called Impossible Creatures by Relic Entertainment? Basically you combine different animals together to create units in the game...you know you should be working for them with these..fantastic combinations..plus your trademark colouring style roxors...

these are really nice, but they're very similar to a book i saw a while ago. i can't remember the author's name, but the book was an alphabet book of animals, but they were all heavily stylised like this. sorry i can't give more information, but the author also wrote a book called 'the great shadow migration'

still nice work though!

thanx peeps for the comments.

prom: chameleons for sure. i like these bugs, probably because of their surnatural look. pokemons.... i like the concept, but i can't really say i'm a fan of the creatures. a few are nice, but most are crappy imho.
this thing began as a joke, during a professional discussion, we were a bit tired. a i and a friend suddenly tried to draw a monster on a sheet of paper, in less than a minute. was fun, and we did a bunch. neon stripes, yummie!

tedsuo: ty! :D

WhiteBlaizer: never played pokemon really, although i know the design. i like being eclectic, so it's a fact, i sometimes draw with (and for) my kid, doing forms on paper , little monsters, ... it's fun.

MindCandyMan: tx m8

negativespace: wow! didn't know this site, it's really nice. i just love this sort of approach. tx for the url, i'll bookmark it right away.

Manta_Ray: hehe, well i don't really need a job, i'm pretty busy for sure working for capcom, but if there is one studio that could tempt me, it would be relic. mostly because they realised the homeworld game, and homeworld cataclysm, both amazing products that i consider as classics. ty :D

rubygenesis: hehe, i think i prefer the second one.

eggbeater: lol. a friend told me yesterday that he wanted to eat them all!

puddlefish: it's a fact that there are a lot of books that try to explain to kids that monsters can be cute and kind. it happens in every country too. child books are full of these.
so without wanting it, it will probably always look like something that has already been done and that you will have probably seen already. however, if you feel there are indeed very strong references with another artist, be kind to post a link to the artist you're talking about, as it may not be very polite stating similarities without any further explanation.
as for these, it is just not possible for me to work with any influences in front of my eyes. i remember forms that i stock into my brain, in order to use it later on. tx for the comment :D

i'll add more of these thingies later on. so busy.....
if you want to see more of these, here's a french thread for you to check out, (you're not forced to read, just look at the drawings):

tx to all of you :D

i didn't mean to suggest that you were copying these pictures, i merely thought you might be interested in seeing work in a similar vein. here are some examples, the books is called 'frenzied fauna: from a to z' by Michel Gagne.

This whimsical, daily approach reminds me of the explodingdog drawings at www.explodingdog.com

He draws pictures based on phrases that people send in. Simple, but very creative and fun.
