...better than wetting my pants, I guess.

My name is Ben Hatke. I'm new here, but I'd really like to start participating a bit. This is an impressive forum and I like the fact that you emphasize life drawing, anatomy and other foundational stuff.

Also, I'm thankful for your reference section. I posted some sketches in the life drawing section that sprang from some of the figures posted in that section.

Here are a few of my recent pieces:

and a not-so-recent piece just for fun:

I really like the playfulness of your images, especially the first one. Did you ever read Ray Bradbury's I Sing the Body Electric short story? Futuristic world with robotic nannies that protect the children they looked after (mostly from other robo-nannies if I recall).

the design of the first robot is pretty good, but the legs on the left side of the image don't seem as solid as the ones on the right.

Thanks for the welcome. I must say, I've been blown away by some of the work I've seen here. There's some really top-notch stuff!

Thanks for the crit, bwkeough. The left side of this image has always been problematic, especially since the original pencil sketch was larger than the scanner bed.

That's something you don't see in Mecha often enough, cupholders. I like the second one best, the cleanliness and playfullness work well together.
