nice portraits, the black and white has some good contrast, but its possible a little too strong - killing some of the nice gray mid-tones. That could also be from your light source, try and get some kind of reflector down underneath somewhere to just bring out a tiny amount of detail from in the shadows.

nice stuff tho :)

I really wish the first one was a lone tree in a field, but otherwise its pretty darn good. As for the other...well it always hurts to look directly into the sun.

Mhouse is right ... it`s kind of a rule... never picture the sun directly ... because there`s no picture it`s just a big burnt thing in the middle of the whole thing! the same thing with the building

I disagree. Depending on the photo having the sun positioned so can give a lot of voice, it all depends on what the photographer wants to say. Personally I like the sun picture more than I like the tree. Both need a little improvement though.

The deep blue behind the clouds is gorgeous, and the way the sun is perched on the middle cloud gives me a very strong religious connection actually. I did have a suggestion I wasn't going to post, but I decided to anyway...if the flare was slightly less intense would make it look a lot better. The clouds (and the picture as a whole, but not as noticeably) are also a little noisy.

All in all I love it.

I agree the tree would look much better in an open field, but the framing still looks really good. Nice subject.

As for the buildings, I don't like the buildings and the sign in the foreground, but I like the stairstep oreintation of the buildings themselves. I think if it was framed differently the flare could work, but again it would need to be less intense. If it's that large it draws too much attention to itself.

For excellent trees in fields check out robertmekis on DA, he's got this one tree that he takes lots of shots of and all of them are amazing :D

Nadim's sun photo is stunning! I see light and life and colour! It's almost holy light! Although the centre of the sun is blown out the rim lighting on the clouds gives it added shape and depth. This is the best photo of the sun I've ever seen! Well done! :)

The below are shots of Palestinians stranded on the Egyptian side of Rafah, it is a consequence of the Battle of Gaza, which took place between June 7 and June 15, 2007 in the Gaza Strip. Except for the first one, he is a friend of mine.
