View Full Version : DSG 1177: Sci-Fantasy: TRAVELER CROSSES FOGGY LANDSCAPE OF GIANT BIO-MECHANOID HEADS

.

[ Perhaps these are some sort of monuments? ]

[ Or maybe these are giants whose bodies are still submerged in the earth? ]

[ Is it possible that these are severed heads from some war of the gods? ]

[ You decide. ]

[ The term "bio-mechanical" refers to a perfect fusion of the biological and the mechanical, where the one cannot quite be distinguished from the other. ]

[ A "bio-mechanoid" refers to a creature that holds these properties. ]

[ Use the fog to affect a sense of thick atmosphere. ]

[ Now, the landscape itself can be made of the heads, or the landscape might simply contain the heads... ]

[ ...that's up to you. ]

[ The traveler might be any sort... ]

[ Should be an interesting one, I hope. ]

Hamsta - Without the knowledge of the pinkish sky, I like the cartoonish appearances of the surrounding boulderheads. Par performance.

Goran - You've got the wisdom at all 10 fingertips. You should enter the "Garbage Drop-Off Planet" EOW if you have time, I'd love to see your interpretation.

Jonah - On my computer screen the smoke seems hazy (However unnatural that sounds.) The hood of your character could be more circular and could have a source of light or a torch lighting the way. Unless he's wearing fog proof glasses frames -

Redehlert - It speaks the language of your username. There's helmet shine, temperature, and a path of promise in front of him. TRAVEL CHANNEL SPECIAL: Across the Plains of the CA Wasteland.

All the time I have for now.

Keep doing you

Here's mine... had a tough time drawing tonight, just felt kinda off... inspired by the Borgs in Star Trek and a little Easter Island where they have the big stone head statues around... any crits/comments welcome
http://community.conceptart.org/gallery/I/2005/01/01/19551.jpg

Burrito - Nice image. I like you Bio-Mech head design

Airrunkle - Looks like we have another chapter in the Star Wars saga where a jedi knight is about to take on a bunch of Bio-Mech Giants.

Redehlert - I really like your foggy atmosphere and all of the Bio-Mechs in the BG. Cool colors too. What is happening with the little flying thing in the middle though? Is it shooting your traveler with a laser?

Wezefire - Nice idea. I thought your purple flesh were purple worms eating the remains/brains...

Supialoctopod - Very dark an ominous. good job.

Updownleftright - I like your traveler idea.

Goran - I've seen your work during my time while lurking around these parts. Good stuff. I really like your Bio-Mech head designs and the isolated bridge that your traveler is crossing. The "grungy" drawing style is cool too... nice work... I look forward to seeing more of you work.

Jonah - Traveler... check, Foggy landscape... check, Giant Bio-Mechanoid Heads... check... nice job.

Hamsta - love the cartoony stlye of your heads...

biomechanoid.

As always, I am awed by the quality of the DSG entries. I'm still new at the wacom, trying to practice and learn bit by bit!

Tried for an ariel-type view of the world to create scale...spent about an hour.

Well, I was going for speed and getting the general idea across over rendering details... and you can definately tell that details were a low priority! :)

Since I don't have a tablet, most of the (very few) details were added in with pencil on a printout, then rescanned in. That part didn't work out so bad actually.

Glottis The attachment manager is disabled for the DSG. Go to the managment as to the whys ;)
Interesting gorilla you have there, too bad about the mist being just a spray over with a photoshop airbrush, making it lower and giving it more volume would have been better.

AphexTweak Hmm... how to crit, how to crit...
Is that a washing machine in front of the borg?
Nothing in particular strikes me as wrong, as unfinished as this is, which in a way shows my skills as an artist, I just don't know how my betters do what they do.

I decided to put my traveller within a space craft and have it travelling over the giant heads.

Hamsta - I was just blocking in a control panel of sorts for the mechanoid/borg head. A place that would be used to run diagnostics or maybe release them... who knows... but i could see it being a little washing machine that the mother mechanoid throws baby mechanoid clothes into after they were playing and got all greasy.

silliKONe - really like the gritty feel and atmosphere of your image
oven g love - your heads are cool, very cadaver like
RBwoods - Your scene reminds me of the Matrix shot after one of the ships was taken down and they all had to get out right before Neo defeated a sentinal in the "real world"... good work...
PeSTen - I like your heads and foggy landscape. Your traveler could use some work, but then again so could mine... good blocking in.
craigbruyn - nice work man... putting your traveler in the ship was a great idea... cool ship too with the spotlights on the wings. Hope to see you post more...

Sorry not enough time to comment on everyones but good job and keep it up... so much fun looking at everyone's ideas and concepts...

Craigbruyn - Excellent image. Suggestion: The moonlight from the sky behind the spacecraft is distracting because it appears as though the craft's lights are suspended behind it. I would move it mid-way in the fog of the clouds - then the light sources are symmetrical.

Keep doing you

Here is my sloppy DSG, not my first attempt but the first one I actually finished on time.:teeth: For awhile now I've been lurking the forum, looking at everyones incredible creations, it looked fun so I decided to join in. I have alot to learn, I know.

Well here's my two cents. A bit late (okay, really late), and unpolished but I like how its turning out and I wanted to post something before this thread closed. Perhaps I'll work on it more later...

Edit: Hmm, just realized I didn't make it very foggy...
