View Full Version : Wacom Tablet Repair?

I'm having problems with my tablet (a Wacom Intuos 3) - The cord is loose or something so it's like trying to work while someone randomly unplugs the USB.

So my question is this... Where does one get a tablet repaired? (it's a couple months outside the warrenty - of course :nohope: ) And more importantly, how does one keep working and keeping up with deadlines while it's in the shop? About 80% of my work is done with a tablet, not being able to use it for a couple of days would be rough and if I have to mail it off to be fixed I'm in real trouble.

Right now I have the cord taped into place so it's functioning decently a good chunk of the time, but I'm dreading the moment when it cuts out completely right before an important deadline. :[

If anyone has any advice or experience with this sort of thing I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks guys :yayca:

Buy a used tablet off eBay or something for cheap, something old and basic but functional (I have a first-generation Intuos that works fine, age means little to these things), and when your tablet does go out, you at least have a backup. No idea where you can get a tablet repaired though.

Upon discovery of a defect in the product, except in the software, within the Warranty Period, you should notify Wacom Technical Support via telephone, email, or fax to obtain an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number and instructions for shipping the product to a service location designated by Wacom.

You should try calling Wacom. I'm sure that'd be your best bet.

Here's their number. Good luck.

MCBarrett - picking up a cheap backup is a great idea. I have a backup for everything else I need to complete a job, a backup tablet (even if it's only a piece of junk) would put my mind at ease.

FlyingMilton - I saw that on their website too, but I'm outside the Warranty Period. If I can't find someone local to fix it (faster than mailing it across the country), I'll definitely give that number a call and see if they'll look at something that's no longer covered by warrenty. Thanks a bunch for doing to the legwork though, I really appreciate you taking the time to do that.

Even if it's out of warranty, they might be able to give you a service location, you will have to pay for the repair yourself but you will know that the person repairing it will know Wacoms.
