Hey guys and girls! I'm a returning CA user. After being recruited on these very forums by my good friend/mentor storyboard_dave I began my first semester (last fall) at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. I'm absolutely loving it here! I hope to update this sketchbook forum as much as possible. Give me some crits and don't be afraid to destroy my work (in a constructive manner.) Thanks. Peace.
Here are some sketches from over winter break:

I like the expression of movement and energy in your studies. Is your creative studies course an art based course then? (Sorry it's just i'm looking to apply for creative studies in English) Your figures work looks great. Life drawing is so useful.

Hey Titus Oats thanks for the kind words. my college is all art based. I'll have to admit our liberal arts program isn't the best in the world but our art & design programs are one of the top schools as far as i'm concerned. so i dont know how much help it will be in english. check it out though if you'd like: http://www.ccscad.edu (The College for Creative Studies) Our website isn't much but thats what you get when the people at the top of the ladder make all the decisions.

Here are a few more. I was reading through Alan Lee's LOTR sketchbook (the madn the first inspired me to draw... thank you DVD special editions) and I noticed he spent a lot of time drawing the forest from life. Luckily I live in Michigan so their are alot of trees, outside of Detroit, however even though its a blazing warm winter, its still cold. I especially love the one on page 86-87 if you have the book handy. For some reason I love his sketching style and it brings me into motivation mode after peaking at this book. Whelp wish me good luck I'm off to my first Pictorial Problem Solving (all perspective)with the legendary Casey Wise.

Envisor- Thanks for the kind words.
Here are a few of my sketches from my Anatomical Figure Illustration sketchbook. Its an intense class and so was Pictorial Problem Solving. Looks like I'm not gonna have a social life this semester. Oh well comes with the territory.

Here is another skull study. i'm loving my anatomy class so far. I really appreciate Eugene Clark's teaching technique. Crazy/caffienated guy but keeps me awake, especially since it is a night course. Oh I have renounced my use of Photobucket and believe everyone should also follow in my footsteps.

hey xzacto thanks!
Here are a few more. The first is a character I did at a Royal Oak sketch night. I liked it so much I used it for an ink technique in my illustration tech class. After that is a graphite wash for value practice. Not much of a fan of the subject matter but I still had fun. The next two are for my anatomy sketchbook. Give me some critiques! :)

nice anatomical bone studies, i love the fact that you did your drawings on dark paper and used a white pencil to do the highlights.
I'm doing anatomical studies as well and already I can feel its influence but I like your approach and its inspiring.
One thing though, withyour images at the top with the dancers, the wrist should come down to the sme height as the crutch and the fingers tips end halfway down the thigh.
With your first drawing you can see if she was to stand straight and to put her ars down then her wrists would end at her knees and her finger tips would be halfway down her shin.
hope that helps? I lovce the way you are progressing so I'll be back to see more. keep up the great work.
