EDIT: Whoah, did I see a delay there? In the 32:00 mark. Reviewer confirms it's pressure sensitive and proceeds to do strokes and I see a lag. Maybe the tablet angle to the camera gives the impression of a delay.
Thinking of getting a tablet sometime this year. Cintiq is groovy but I've decided I want something more portable. Something that has a "reflective screen" for outdoor use.
Here's the video review: http://youtube.com/watch?v=zYzsj2YMYAE (total run time - 43:59) This reviewer has other vids here: http://youtube.com/profile_videos?user=KevinCTofel
Related and recent CA discussion here (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=84973&highlight=fujitsu).
And...fujitsu website (http://store.shopfujitsu.com/fpc/Ecommerce/buildseriesbean.do?series=ST5100&ptype=TB) has a "special price" for a fixed configuration Stylistic ST5112 (but USA only).

There's a lot of pretty usefull info in that CA related thread.
The review of the guy on youtube is great too btw.
I'm currently looking into buying a portable system for painting as well and I get
a bit flooded with all the info out there. I primarily wonder if people still prefer
a laptop with little wacom on the side to a tablet PC? And if so, why?
The tablet fujitsu system looks very good but does it come with a keyboard as
well? Or do you have to buy that seperately? And if so is that the case with
most slate tablets?
Didn't want to hijack your thread with more questions Flip. Just eager to know
myself.

Also when looking at prices it still seems that going for a small wacom combined with a decent laptop
will give you higher/better specs then the slate tablet for the same price.
It seems that you still pay a considerable amount of money just because it's
more compact/portable.

uPlusPen: For those who like the feel of drawing on paper: http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/peripherals/upluspen-is-like-a-tablet-minus-the-tablet-223891.php
----------
If it can write on any surface...can you write on any monitor? hmmmm....
It is similar to a Wacom-style tablet, but there is no actual tablet. The pen can write on any surface and be transferred to the computer.

Judjing by the replies there this seems more of a gadget then an actual drawing tool. First of all, it has a cord, wtf?
And secondly, how will it detect its place as
a cursor on screen without a tablet? The most important feature for drawing.
I would love for others/ pro's to share their thoughts on the slate tablet vs laptop with wacom solution.

well, i have been doing research into buying a laptop or tablet pc. I have flip-flopped back and forth over the past few weeks. At times I wanted to get a powerful, light laptop like a Sony Sz370 or Dell M1210, to use with an Intuos 3. Then I considered the tablet pc's and researched those online and decided that there are not any that have everything I want yet. So I was pretty set with getting a Dell XPS m1210 because I already have an Intuos 3, I'm confortable with it, and it could run Maya too.
Then tonight I tried out Requiis' Fujitsu 4215 at a figure drawing session and it totally amazed me. I couldn't believe how easy it was to transition too! The difference between drawing directly on the screen and on a tablet while looking on a screen is immense. So now I am leaning towards a Fujitsu to use just for drawing and painting, along with a bluetooth keyboard.
I hope that helps. Just do your research and be patient, until you really know what you want. I know now that I don't think I want to pass on the chance to experience making art with this new technology.

for all those artists bitching about the viewing angle of tablet pcs:
you are thinking way to digital. Actually this is a traditional problem. When drawing, the only reasonable viewing angle is 0. Otherwise you have perspective distortion...
also: You have to set your lights up right for an oilpainting so you don't have reflections and glare everywhere.

Funny, while I was on my way to work this morninng I was thinking what I'd draw with a tablet and how exactly I'm going to find the means to get one. Then right before my subway stop, a guy comes in the train with a tablet!
From where I was sitting my eye level was aligned to the tablet's screen. The guy was holding it like a textbook, with the screen facing me. And I saw the beginnings of a nudie sketch.
What does it all mean??? :grandpa:

That review was great. definately looks better than your average tablet PC... I'm really gonna have to think about this subject. I had decided to make my own Cintiq out of used parts, and I ended up frying the LCD inverter board unwittingly... But now that I see these new generation tablets, I'm really wondering if I should go that route instead...
