Welcome to CA.Drawing anatomy is a real good exercise for someone who wants to improve in theyre art. These turned out great. You also need to draw from life, draw what ever you see, because the only way to improve is to practice. Below is link to some free anatomy books over the internet. Click on Andrew loomis books when you get there and we'll see what comes from your studies.

Very nice anatomy work on the first one. I always foul up forearms terribly. I'm sure your mom is going to get a big kick out of her portrait. Keep drawing. If your scanner software has a slider bar for darkness, take it from the 50% default down to about 40% and the lines will show up a lot clearer (although admittedly the erasure areas show up a little better too.

Been awhile since I posted.

Testing out a Mechanical Pencil 0.5 mm. Also seems as if an ant found a way into the scanner. Lol. :P

Cool, keep up the anatomy (and life) studies and you can't go wrong. Observe, think and then put it down on paper. :)

Keep on keepin' on, you've got a good start.

I typed on msn but the message didn't get through :/
So, i was suggesting working more with planes. Try to see your character in space and not just on a canvas.
As for the hand, try to look at your own. And if you're still having some problemes, go fingers by fingers instead. Keep things as simple and clear as possible.
Keep working monsieur !

pssst. Have you been drawing? If so, please post some work! My advice is to set color aside for a bit, and really focus on doing lots of still lives or anatomy studies or gesture drawings or life drawings in contour, without any shading, it'll help a lot and really push you to see. Keep it up, man! Envisor linked you some Loomis books, check them out, or if you have some anatomy books at your library do them! Anatomy studies are sosososo helpful. :]

Elvis has no ear...that explains his singing.

:nohope:

Anyway...good look with working on your anatomy. I can't really talk cuz I'm in the same boat as you but my only advice that I'm currently learning would be to be aware of proportion and volume when you draw the figure. Learning the different planes and surfaces makes a difference when you are rendering the body.

And don't give up- it'll get boring and your art might seem to get worse for a while, but the improvement will suddenly kick in.

Good luck.

Hey Fuse06, I think bluefruitbowl said it best. If you want to improve, work from life. Draw anything and everything. Setup some still life's and really study the objects your wanting to draw. Simplify things when your studying it. Also like others have mention really take your time and study anatomy, muscles, bones etc. Something that might be beneficial would be to work in one or two mediums for at least sometime until you think your getting the feel of it. Then try to move into digital and color. Another thing that has help me a lot.. is to simply study all kinds of art, and really look at the piece, and try to think how they did a certain part of the piece, what things you like about a certain piece and what you don't like. You can learn a lot by just observing artwork. Hope some of this helps. Most important thing have fun with your art. :)

Did an OC session with Dile... Man was he such a GREAT teacher and a GIANT help. He showed me so many things, but he never messed with the painting, just put some guidelines when needed. It was sooo much fun. It was done after a painting by Whitaker.
