I just had a fun little idea:
Well, don't know if this will work, but here it goes:
This is kind of a game; A group of people get together and set up who goes first then second and so forth. Then the first person Makes a sentence to a story. Then the next person does the same thing, but they have to further they story. This goes for a while until the story meets its conclusion. Then the first person has to take his/her first sentence and make it into a drawing, with out any text bubbles. Then the next person does the same thing with their sentence. This keep s going until the story is finished. The final result would be a graphic novel made customly by the conceptart.org people. Whadya think? Here is and example: Of the story part:
First person: Once upon a time.
Second person: There lived an ugly old taco eating squirrel.
Then the make the story go farther.

Basically it's a good idea, incognito!
But first you have to throw the sentence part away...the artists in the linked thread showed, that you just have to draw the next frame and the next artist can just add his part...
The problem is the one, we saw in the thread MGH posted. MGH, dicksart and Dan Milligan made a very fun story and drawings, but it got messed up as some other members tried to take part. The drawings and ideas weren't the quality the threadstarters made...and i think that was also a reason why they considered the thread as dead at the end...
btw i tried to start a similar idea on this forum (all artists contribution just on one image), but it didn't work...:p

why not a mural? or whatever they're called? a really big image, with space for everyone to draw on?

this is completely different than what your proposal was, but maybe...
someone could set up a giant digital canvas..and then people could sign up for spots in that canvas. Then we could make a grid, and send the canvas out to the first person, and he/she would fill in his square then send it to the next person, etc...
BTW - I did steal this idea from somewhere, but I forget where. Sorry.

I hesitate to blame the other contributers to that thread as I was the one who 'hijacked' Dicksart's thread (without him knowing) to begin with and didn't feel I or any of us had the right to keep others out.
Maybe what made it work so well in the beginning is that myself, Dicksart, Dan and Aaross all know each other personally and come from the same sort of work background.
Maybe a storytelling thread that is limited to group of friends or workmates...

So as to not make any screw ups with new people I would make a list of the only people who can do it....sadly I can only put in a sentence as I don't have a scanner yet, or a wacom, or photoshop :( . So, whos in?

What's the procedure incognito, you're the master...but i would suggest to kick the sentence part, it slows down the whole process...

July 4th, 2003, 03:36 PM
Ok, no whats it called sentences...but we need a theme so as to keep on track. So it will be pretty much the same thing.

July 5th, 2003, 05:18 PM
Don't ya think we need like 2 more people? Or is this 4 person group enough?
RONIN
July 5th, 2003, 11:03 PM
I think we can start with the 4. Most of the threads seem to Grow with the addition of artwork. You mentioned the theme to be Post-Apocolyptic, you should start with the baseline plot (initial image) and let's see where it takes us.

OK, now all I have to do is try to find a way for my image to get scanned. Maybe the library or kodak center things...?

I'd really love to but, seriously my art isn't really anywhere near the level it needs to be to be able to do stuff like this.
And also I'm really busy at the moment, but I'm really looking forward to seeing where this goes :)
so good luck to you guys! And who knows? Maybe this could become a regular thing if it works out really well :)
Edit: Wow! I used the word "really" 5 times in this short post... I guess I'm REALLY tired :D , dammit 6 :)

yeah./..I have already done my picture thing...and the concept art stuff....I couldn't fall asleep because I was thinking to much of this so yeah...now I have to scan the stuff in and get the drawing finished.

July 8th, 2003, 03:06 AM
Gah, I probably won't be able to submit anything in yet because I can't find a scanner, so um, I guess I'll just describe the drawing I was about to do to set the "tone".
A robot who looks like a test dummy with a barcode on the side of his face and no hair is sitting on a dock in a restaurant wiaters suit. He is smoking a cigarrete that changes with his "emotions", and at the moment is droopy. In the background is a truck shaped plane that is dropping human bodies into the ocean since there is mass overpopulation. A beach in also in the background. Everything is dark.
- Does anyone know any way to scan pictures in? And don't say kinkos or those kodak things because I am almost sure that they can't. I am gonna try to check the library. Any guesses as to other places that might have a scanner? So, I guess the new order is gonna be
1.Muttonhead
2.Fozzybear
3.RONIN
4.?
5.?
Sorry for the inconvienience. (yes, I know the spelling in that is wrong.) :(
Muttonhead
July 8th, 2003, 10:32 AM
Why can't we say Kinkos? Every Kinkos I have ever been to has scanners. You have to purchase computer time to do so.

booo, I probably won't be able to get my picture scanned in before I leave for like 20 days, so I guess one of you will have to start it. Talk amongst yourselves now...
