It's my birthday today, (now I can smoke, gamble and get married :D) and for my birthday my parents gave me a Winsor&Newton Easel.

It's easel ment to be used when seated, can be used for up to 75cm pics (Looks really neat).

they said it was either that or a very simple tripod-like easel, and I could exchange to that if I wanted. There are loads of standing easels in the art school I'll be attending this fall, so I'm betting the table-easel is a better bet. Then I could just stay in the art-dept. studio, when wanting to do standing easel pics, and use the table easel at home.

Or is a table easel a bad Idea ?

oh and btw, the other easel is very light, compact and easy to carry around, so I could be doing landscapes and stuff with it :)

I use one and i'm happy. Although i never sit down when i paint. And haven't painted that much ;-)

My only problem would be that table easels are light, and therefore they will move/shake when you use them.

thanks for the comment Erik. I've decided to wait on the standing easel, I'm very happy with this table easel. :)
