Hey there, I just finished two new drawings in photoshop. It's all for portfolio marterial... are they worth it? Or do they need more work?

I'd say whether or not they are portfolio material depends on your experience, growth, level of preivous work and especially what goal you have through showing your portfolio...If you are asking if this is "industry" ready, professional level work, I'd say you need some tweaking. Hope that helps some, if at all.

I like the background in the 2nd one. Your shading (especially on the characters) are too soft, and makes the object lose forms.
Also your lighting is not too consistent, especially on the first one. It feels there's lighting coming from top and right instead of top alone. It'd always help to give a secondary light source, to show the forms better in the areas primary lighting can't reach.

contrast is key...sharp/blurry, light/dark, tight/loose, clean/messy...etc...
