Thanks! I don't have any progress shots, I did this a few years back. It's basically a gouache underpainting with a lot of colored pencil and elbow grease, some white acrylic for highlights. Background is photoshopped.

Hey! Thanks for having me! Were you a VCU student? I'll throw some of the Oddgod stuff out here once I get a chance. I've colored some of those pages and I'll throw 'em up as I get 'em done.

Mr. Visions...Mr. Visions...yeah, I think I vaguely recall the name. As I recall, you're pretty fair with a pencil yourself (not to mention with paint and pens and computers...). This piece is pretty good sized, about 12" x 18", somewhere in that ballpark. When're you gonna put your latest Hellboy/Lobster Johnson masterpiece up?

Crawdad Jones - Yea..once again..my apologies for being a jerk ryt back. I did 'not' recognize the work ryt away because I have mostly seen just your editorial pieces and some of the childrens book work, but I don't think I've seen any of your fantasy stuff...this would be the first......and don't worry..I'll make sure I look at your every post..hahahahahaha.. (I was ticked at the moment).
Ok....pheww....on to the piece: Well, having mostly seen editorial and political stuff from you, aside from the childrens book work, this is extremely refreshing. I like that your color palette is very subtle compared to the other work which has a very saturated and cartonny look ( which is awsome for that type of work). The design is really cool.....reminds me of 80's cheezy sci fi flix...or something out of Mel Brook's Spaceballs...Nice one.
Back in my sophomore year , I was trying this technique out, yet I could never get it right. Are you going to be doing a demo at any point next semester?.... (please do).
About my fat-lady drawing..i think I've posted all of my work on here....you might just have to dig it up from the archives. ^__^
Well thanks for getting back to me about the misunderstanding...and can't wait to see more of your concept work.
I'm actually going to The Mid Atlantic Gaming Expo in Vienna, NOVA this morning and will be back sunday night. Trying to get jobs i the gaming indusrty, so I'll make sure I take pictures of the cool art there and post it on here somewhere.

Hahahaha, how embarassing. You fiesty kids, you --

Edit: May I add you both smell funny, but I think it bring something unique to both of your approaches in technique.

HAR! I should probably be smacked upside the head for being a wiseguy, but it's all good now, as the kids say.
