Hi and welcome in my sketchbook. I've decided that the beginning of a new year is very good opportunity to start a sketchbook ;)
I'll try to update this as often as possible (and I hope it'll also motivate me to regular drawing/painting ;) ).
Hope You'll enjoy watching (and don't hesitate to crit! :) ). Happy New Year!

For now - it's batman time ;)

Batman always makes a sketchbook look cooler...
However, it looks like you have drawn the upper part of Batman from a higher viewpoint and then his stomach from a lower viewpoint... making it slightly weird looking.
That probably didn't make any sense... :nohope:
Good of you to experiment with the colors a bit more, I think it looks much stronger than the older colorings!
aspenboy
January 22nd, 2007, 02:19 PM
dmitri: yup, you're right, I see that too - this "batman" piece was somehow uncontrolled... I think it was more about playing with colour, values and contrast - batman was not the primary purpose :D Well... I can always say, that every dispropotion was intentional ;)

HAHA! awesome toons man, i love the clown FINISH IT PLEAZE!
the frankestien one and the rat are also very cool... so is the elephant in post #17
i think you could push your colours more, try and go bold, a lot of your colour pieces loose some of their energy because of the flat desaturated colours. your characters are so energetic, try do the same with the colour.
MORE MORE MORE!!! :D

Thanks for visiting and the advice :) You have some nice concepts here - some are very funny. You should definitely spend more time on finishing them - giving them more detail.

Thanks for comments!
Kronos: Thanks, I'll try to get back to that clown. You're right about colors - I'm fighting with them ;)
DeMoon: :)
thirdeye: Thanks! Most of this pictures are done in less than one hour, and it's sometimes hard for me to find more time. Sometimes I have lot of ideas, and I want to put as much of them on the paper as I can - but I'll try to focus on the details more. :)

Thanks :) No, I don't have much time for traditional media nowadays. But I want to make some acrylic stuff, because I really miss real brushes.

ur stuff is mind blowing.
im in love with that [page uno] beaver.
AWESOME work mate.
question though?
what art program do u use??
aspenboy
November 3rd, 2007, 12:33 PM
Thanks Beta_v1 for kind words :) I'm using Photoshop and Painter, often side by side. Photoshop is pretty straightforward and easy to use, but Painter gives a lot of fancy features (I love the way you can mix colors in Painter).
Cheers!

hehe...gotta love creepy clowns...*ekk...looks like that clown on the right has one nasty looking injection needle in his hand.
Good sketches and those digital drawings are coming along pretty well. Just think about refining some of them more and keep pushing the values.

Thanks for the comments! I guess it's time to put some life into this thread...
I'm working on some pose studies recently - refs taken from characterdesigns www and "anatomy for artists" (by Sarah S.), but I have Bridgman's book on my desk as well - I guess I should give it a try as well.

The clowns in your head want out.
You need to draw them or else...

Whoa, over a year without a single post! :D
So... no clowns this time (sorry Lakeland), but two quickies. The "batman" piece was made in painter 12, which seems to be really good. Performance is nice and new UI is no longer buggy.
I want to put some more effort in this batman sketch, but I'm not sure yet where do I want to go with it. I'll probably change the composition, add some fancy background... we'll see :) So far the anatomy is... very improvised, but I had a lot of fun anyway.
