hello friends:mohawk: :god: :clown: :chicken: :cat; :batman:

never posted in here so i figured it was about time...

i did these a couple months ago during a fig. drawing session at school before summer hit. I try not to look at my page/paper much , ive gotten pretty good at just looking at the models, but ill look at the paper to make sure im not drawing off the page and onto the table. thats why some off the proportions are off. this makes you good at drawing what you see, not what you think you know

Im also trying to experiment with making different marks--and how different marks can describe form. im not being experimental enough as far as that goes though.

any feedback appreciated

(((added a picasso drawing at bottom--great example of a variety of marks used)))
waht do you guys/gals think about using alot of different types of marks in your work?

Cool stuff man. I dig the guy's leg in the first one.

I'm taking a figure drawing class right now that's sort of the opposite approach. THe emphasis is on the drawing, using the the model for reference only. The idea is to take what you want, emphasize and push what you think is important or striking about the pose, and underplay or simply leave out the rest. Cool to see someone going at it from the other direction.

And dude, I'm all for expressive mark making! But I also think there should be structure to it, or a drawing can lose cohesion.

Tyboggie your anatomy is so f%#@*d up!!!

naaah just kidding, :D I am funny eh?

No seriously, that is a weird way of working you've got there. Life drawing is all about drawing what you see and not what you think you see, but you still have to look at your canvas once in a while... when drawing from life I try to be looking at the model more than my paper, say 60/40%.

Still it is a very interesting result you come up with. your skeches (especially the first) remind me os Schiele's work.

Haha, i love it =)
Your distorted anatomy rocks my world...and stuff =P
Do you make a point to have your life drawings look like that, or is that just how it turns out when your not looking?

These are great! So expressive. I like how you are experimenting with your mark making.

thanks peopless

i should clarify that these were actually semi blind contour--as i was continually looking down to make sure i was drawing the right object in teh right place--but once i have the jump off point ill just go for it for a few seconds--and then look again to make sure im not drawing the arm ontop of teh face. i really dont have a set way of working--my drawings are always looking diferent. these were just from one session, its fun to experiment and attack that shit with passion.

amphex--a little bit of both--its a journey

jrr--haha--you so craaaazzay
