This is a quick sketch for a background ... but somehow it doesn't work.
What's wrong? What could I change?

It's supposed to be a background for a strip show in a club!

for a strip show in a club? What it supposed to be? A dark street? I think whats wrong is the perspective, maybe try making the sidewalk going more of at a 45 degree angle (from the bottom left) then at a 100 degree angle. Well thats all I can say, since I cant see much else of the picture. Good work though.

Hmmm, I wonder - that "dark street" - its the catwalk, right? And then the sketchy audience to the right? I wonder where the girls entrance are - behind us (the viewer) or is it yet to be sketched out?

Before the actual girl is there, swinging by the posts in acrobatic angles (ouch, Im getting all excited!) its hard to say much.

If this shall only be an interior it may be best to make it all more horizontal - no exotic tilting without exotic dancers ;)

I would consider making the catwalk more narrow - how are the customers supposed to be able to put there 20īs in the knickers of dii ladiiieees (getting sweaty here, aint it?) ;)

Keep it up and do post the final image with all its buxen beauty! ;)

I thought it was just a picture in the background...

incognito: What I wrote was misleading I guess. :emb:
Johannes got it right. I just meant it's supposed to be the background ...
as in: the foreground stuff is still to come.
I'll check the perspective ... thanks for your reply.

I was searching for reference for the catwalk (or table ... whatever) mostly.
I didn't find anything but I guess now that it's the crowd I have to work on most.
I just want subtle lighting for the background. It's hard to find any reference images.
Girls are still to come ... I'm not very optimistic though.
If I had already painted them guess what most people would comment on.

En example for the kind of lighting I'm going for would be:

Is this concept better?
And the question in the image: keep it or not?

hmm, that new pole poses interesting possibilities...I think maybe you should darken the whole picture and make the lighting from the poles higher, so the viewer really notices it. Then add the strippers. Then add the people.

Should the poles be brighter?
I decided to paint the people first ...
because they are part of the background and the strippers are foreground.

If there are no critiques tomorrow I'll start working on the strippers!

Should there be white light things on the bottom of the poles? I think you should intensify the light going down just a bit, and make the poles a tad light....then ON TO THE STRIPPERS! :evilbat:

I knew I wouldn't be able to draw interesting strippers ... :(
And somehow I screwed up the perspective!

I'll completely redo the closest girl. Even closer and with a more dynamic (spelling?) pose.
Then I'll add shadows on the stage ... and work on the poles.
Should there be any other big changes before I finish the painting?

Ok this is the final! Maybe just temporarily?
If there's something I can fix I'll do it sooner or later!

Nice. Go to some ah..."websites" and get some refs for the strippers to make them look realistic...or make them cartoony like. Keep the one thats grabbin her bum and shaking it to the crowd. Do something with the one in the background I think. Maybe add some stuff and or highlights on the crowd? Oh, and maybe make a background to the black area in the back?

Well I did use reference. But there are no images showing exactly what I need.
And ... what should I change again? :(
I think what you said is a little much ... I will only make small changes.

Well that's the style that I wanted to go for.
Maybe it lacks contrast ... maybe I'll redo it in a year or so.
I guess I just can't expect a better result.

well you don't have to go for big changes then...

Great improvement
Only thing I want now is the nearest stripper to be a little more acrpbatic, maybe have a leg around the pole and hanging out from it - that would give the tilting horizon much more meaning. :D

Great work - U sure didnt pick an easy thinh to depict!

Hey Signature, you are gettting there and better. I have few ideas for you that I have been to strip clubs. Try add rope light long on edge of platform that stripper know where is edge of platform. Most strip club don't have plain black wall, try get different color on wall like dark tan or really ruby red. Also try add some like poster or wall light or plants on the walls. Well I hope this help you.

Keep it up good work and looking further to finish.
