okay, so theres been a lot of talk lately about people kind of wasting space here at CA.O, drawing little fairies or muscle men, what have you. also the "what is concept art" thread, so i've been making efforts towards making "concept art."
Here is my first attempt, a pencil drawing of a robot...

Pretty cool. uh I think the best way to get good at robots is to practice real life's closest alternative - Bulldozers, Snow Plows, Cranes etc. And try to pay attention to each thing on it you draw, And as you do more and more studies figure out how they work, and major points on them. as in the case of cranes the hydraulic pumps, then once u learn to draw those with alot of detail and how they work you can start to add things to it that have no functionality (word...?) but even no it has no point it will look like it has some purpose on the robot. Hope that helps

Donīt limit yourself by drawing in your sketchbook - be it virutal or real - just concept pieces. The doodling, the lifedrawing and even the generics help you to get good tools for finally drawing "real" concept pieces (whenever someone can tell me what they really are ;))
BTW nice rendering!
