I haven't drawn in a long time, but hanging out on these boards with all you talented people has inspired me. Now you'll be sorry.

Here's a little pencil sketch (yes, actual graphite on actual paper) of one of the characters from one of my novels. Not quite as scruffy as I wanted her to be. I'll have to dirty up her boots...

YOu know what 1up on a Livejournal ......wait for it A LIVE SKETCHBOOK thats what. Since your a writer and all you should develop either good communicatiion with people here to do your cover for the cheap cheap or do the covers yourself after practicing like ahhhhh my hand hurts.

SAve ^^^^^^^this for you sketchbook post it in that section. Its solid but hardly finished piece. her is a poorly disguised cylinder and the detail object in the piece does do a good job of seting up foreshortening or perspective.

Welcome to the critiquecenter and forum. Mr Writer/ Amatuer Aritist.

Thanks for the welcome, Nico. Er.... did you mean SHE is a poorly disguised cylinder? Or is there a word missing?

not sure what's up with Nico. Welcome Nathan, look forward to seeing more. The title of this forum is "sketches and works in progress" so I think your entry is valid enough.

I would work on getting some stiffness out of the pose and a little more of an expression in th face. She need to have more of a reson for holdimg a turkey leg - maybe she just swiped it off the table after vanquishing an enemy or something?

Nico, how about a little professionalism and politeness?

Bloopatone, thanks for the welcome. And all good points. Stiffness has always been a problem with my poses. They tend to lack motion and spontanaeity. I will work on it.

I was thinking she was shaking the turkey leg at someone off screen to make a point. The better question is why is she holding her sword while she's eating? Because I like drawing swords? I don't know.

Thanks again for the crits.
