These two schools are boggling my mind so much. I'm going to visit them next month but the wait is anticipating.

But my question is..... Does anyone know anything about Cogswell? did anyone graduate from there, attending there, visited? opinions? anything? It took days for me to get an "appointment" because nobody would answer the phone. I've read some really positive things about it and some complete negative ones. I really don't know.

It pops up randomly when I search for art schools, but the same schools I hear over and over again are Art Center, Otis, Art Institute, Ringling, Rhode Island, and so on. what about the other ones? does it really matter about the reputation? because in the end, its up you to get where you need to.

Also, the same goes for Expression college. It's a complete new school but has anyone gone there yet? if its in a good area or not? They answered to my call immediately. Seems kind of fishy. Are any of these worth my time?

From what I understand, Expression is a for-profit place without accredidation. They give good financial aid the first year, then drop it. Cogswell is WASC accredited and has financial aid all 4 years. Cogswell has alum at Pixar, EA games, Disney, Sony, Digidesign, ILM, and Santa Cruz Games.

Hope that helps!

im currently enrolled at expressions college under the motion graphics design program. they are now an acredited school offering 2.5 year programs in soundarts, motion graphics, animation, and game design (new). the major difference about this school compared to others is that this is NOT an art school. although what you do is considered art, the focus is primarily on the mechanics/engineering behind the pipeline system. if concept art is what you would like to master, i would not advise this school, moreso they produce modelers/riggers/animators. for concept art u can get much more out of these forums alone. the teachers emphasize on foundations in all classes and they do throw you into a preliminary drawing bootcamp/design basics courses which last 10 weeks but after that the rest is up to you. students who come to this school should have a strong understanding and background of the basics before hand. major reasons why i chose to go to this school were location/cost/time. i am happy with what i am doing now however i am not in the animation/game design program anymore which would prob pertain to you better. the school will teach you the basics but if you want to excell you must really push the system and yourself, the ciriculm will only give you so much. do some more research before hand esp w those job placement % they advertise, it is a buisness before a school. but with that said it does have a lot to offer within the ciriculum and outside, just make sure to take advantage of that. to my understanding the sound program is amazing. the schools success is really based off of that, with their visual programs they are really just trying to expand and capitolize on that market. feel free to pm me if u would like to know further.
