I definitely love the style, and the tracelines on the armor are fantastic. However, the piece strikes me as just a bit too dark. Think it could be even more awesome if you added some more "jazzy," brighter colors (contrast). Right now your colors don't tell me where to look. Maybe a bright light, perhaps a faint red, casting down on him from above.
I duno. Great stuff, though!

Great stuff. I agree with Halis_Aetrous. Also, everything looks a little plastic. The shoulder piece for example.. reminds me of those plastic roman armour sets when I was a kid.

Halis, krayz;
Thanx for your comments!!
I definitely agree with you folks.
Setting an adequate light source has been a nightmare for me. It gave me a big trouble again while i was trying to make
it looks more cool and only thing i could do was just adding
additional layer - softlight -. This should be a main reason
why it looks extremely dark.
I believe Your comments will be a big help for me to develope this work.
Again, Thanx folks.

nice job tuff
i think the edges are a little too blurry--the whole thing feels dreamy etc
i think if you went in and gave it some tight /bold marks here and there and tightened up some edges it would give us more variety as our eye moves around
post more!!!--ty

... this pic is good ...but perhaps is it a little bit blurry and need some textures?

Hey Jeff, I did a quick paint over, hope you don't mind:

Like others were saying, using only a single light source can really flatten out an image, and leave big ambiguous dark areas. If you have a secondary light coming from another direction, you can show the form turning in space more effectively. If the second light is a different color, then you also have a color shift happening, which can give you another tool to define forms even further.
I also agree with Ty's advice about the blurryness.
Anyhoo, hope that was helpful. BTW, I just noticed you also go to the Academy! :chug:

Oh.. I cannot thank you enough folks!!
thanx for your great interest and super helpful comments!!
As for blurred edges... Actually i added an aditional layer which is "softlight" on the original painter file in PS to strengthen the contrast. Before I merge these two layers,
i've just applied blur filter on the top layer and i think it
made it look extremely blurred.
i'll try to define edeges more clearly next time.
again, thanx for your c&c.
BTW, what a small world!! Tedsuo!! glad 2 know u.
how's the weather at there? man.. it's deadly hot here.
anyway, take care!!

awesome, good advice on this thread...is his chin too big? seems twice as long as it should be if his head is tilted down with his shoulders?? or maybe you should see more of the neck if he is looking straight on, man thats nit-picking, i have nothing else! it's gonn alook great when it's finished:p

my onion:
i think it is rendered very well, looks a little too soft and could use some more texture and use better composition in the pose.. its an okay painting.
i think you should move this into the work in progres thread and ask the community on how to make it even better.
