I really dont think it matters. I'm 16 too, but I've still got 2 more years of highschool left, and I know my art can grow ALOT if I keep my mind to it. . Because as you wont be submitting your portfolio for another two years, you don't have worry about your level of art yet. Just draw and paint or whatever alot and hone your skillz until its time. I'm not saying it would be a bad idea to start developing a portfolio, though.

If you're interested at Ringling, don't be afraid to fire off an email to them and ask exactly what it is they're looking for. It's not that uncommon of a question! While you're at it, ask them what format (digital, slides, actual artwork, etc.) would they prefer.

For a very brief description regarding the application process for most schools, take a look here...

Good luck!

wafflesx, you can never really go wrong with strong life drawing skills, I don't know what you want to major in (my guess is animation or illustration), but again, it NEVER hurts to do life drawing. It'll be hard at first, but don't get discouraged, enroll in some classes in your area and never lose hope! I 'm a high school senior right now and I know that I really wish I had been doing more life drawing when I was 16. Hope this helps!
