Hey guys, I'm interested in getting into 3d modeling more seriouslyafter viewing through poopinmymouth's site and looking through his tutorials, as well as taking some classes at my school. However, I'm not sure on the basic stuff, like what program you guys recommend, I was looking at 3ds max or Maya, Maya has the advantage of having an educational version, however I think my video card is pretty crappy, so I was thinking of getting a decent one, one that's not too pricey, and one that will allow me to work smoothly. If you guys can't really recommend one, I'd like to hear what your setup currently is please.
As for my specs on my computer, i have a dual core 2.8Ghz Pentium processor, 2 gigs of ram, and my video card is an "NVIDIA Geforce 6200SE TurboCache", but when I tried to run 3ds max it ran really slow, and it still does, really sluggish, I'm thinking it's just the videocard maybe, oh well, I'm not expcting a lot of technical stuff, just want to hear ideas. thanks.
