I originally posted these in my own thread before I saw this one so, for the sake of clarity, I'll move them over here and delete them from the other post. Dont want to cause confusion. The event has been really killer so far. These pics are all from the first day, starting with William Whitaker's walkthrough of the Legion of Honor, ending with the surreal opening party and the demos that followed. I have more that I'll post up once it isnt so late and I feel like getting them off my camera and resizing them. Enjoy.

Actually when you're in a dark room and a flash will wash out the screen entirely, getting a clear picture of a demo is really dificult, if not impossible, without a tripod. Its not a focus issue is a motion blur issue.

Thanks for the pics everyone. Looking forward to see some pics of Dobsky's, Hussar's and Whitaker's works. My brother will post his pics when he gets back (I'm so jealous I couldn't go). I think he shot all his pics at ISO 3200, no flash or tripod, and no infrared focus assist so I hope they come out ok.

These two are from the bus ride to The Legion of Honor. We were packed like that all the way to the end . . . if someone had fallen, they pretty much wouldn't have moved an inch. As I said at the time: I had just met these people, but I already felt incredibly close to them (ba-dum-tsh).

These are some of the live performers who made up what I dubbed in my mind the "twisted basement circus" (meant in a good way).

I know these are horrible and out of focus, but I wanted pictures that showed the lighting conditions; the atmoshpere is completely lost in the flash of my camera.

Another one of the performers; she was up on that stage throughout most of the live music show. Again, a flash shot to actually see her, and no-flash for the ambiance.

This is Loop!Station, the first of the two bands to go on. They have some awesome, moody music (most people I talked to agreed that it would be perfect to draw or paint to). I got two of their CDs on the spot. I completely neglected to take pics of the second band, which is a shame, because they all had on awesome clown outfits. Hopefully someone else can cover that.

I didn't think to take pictures of all the models; I really should have, because they were all great (with fantastic costumes). At least I got a shot of these two (I love the guy in the pink hair).

And here is El Coro working on Jon Foster's painting. Jon wasn't there initially, with Coro pretending to be sneaky. He also kept introducing himself as Jon Foster.

Coro: "I will pretend to be Jon Foster and ruin his reputation! Jajajajaja!"

*Both artists were very friendly and cool to chat with; there was no animosity, real or otherwise; no animals were harmed in the making of this photo.

Sadly, I missed the third day, so I have no clue what happened then (besides the portfolio reviews). I'd love to see some pics from that day so I can know what I missed. That way, when I cry at night, I know what I'm crying about.

I really like those pictures outside of the workshop, especially the one with all you guys at the pedestrian stop light. I'd love to see more of that personal experience here since I think we've seen the best it's gonna get inside the workshop (and to stop me and Sergio from continuing to look for ourselves).

p.s. escape2mars, the landscape you weren't sure about... it looks like John Mueller giving the presentation. I dunno who did the piece sicne I missed this.

I like this painting of the girl laying down on the bed with extreme fore shortening ... Lovely expression of her face and she is so alive.
And I like the Mole man, he is so blind and helpless, his body is soft like in this animal, and he has this very characteristic gesture, a turn of the head, when a blind person looks in the direction from where sound comes... the image makes me shiver a bit...

Everyone, Pontemonti fixed it so you can now place attached images into the body of your posts instead of having them all attached at the end.

I know several people have avoided using the attachment feature because they want to make comments or write captions for their images.

Here's how to do it:
1. Upload your images using the attachment feature.
2. Start typing the body of your post.
3. When you get to a spot where you want to place an image, click on the little arrow next to the paperclip button. A menu will drop down listing all the the images you have attached to the post.
4. Select the image you want to place. The correct code will be added into the body of your post.

That's it! Yay!!

*Alex, I edited your post so hopefully it looks the way you want it to now.

For most of the basement time he was digi painting something on a big screen (some fat mutant woman), then a few people like manley and I think hussar joined in the fun on his picture.
