Post your sketches here!
Severely edited mine, but the simple excuse is that it was late. :P

Dude, you did that one of the lady in the hat? I kept looking at it and being all "That's awesome.". You left it teasingly out in the open. Didn't really get a chance to talk to you. Awesome stuff, man. :D.

Ah mike man, these are so dead on. I love how you captured the first one but accented it stylistically - beautiful.
Was really great to meet and talk you man. :)

Thanks guys. :) I'd really like to see other sketches though. I didn't sketch NEARLY as much (or as well) as some other folks that I saw buried in their books. The "technical pencil table" is gonna be awesome if some of those guys post. I'm sure once the jet lag wears off (and workshop delirium.... and hangovers) we'll see some great stuff!

Well I pretty much stuck with my paints, it's what I need the most work in.
Here's a few of the oil sketches I did while I was there.
Special thanks on these to Vanessa Lemen, Mike Hussar and Shawn Barber for the individual tips on these.

Man, so many people I didn't get to meet. Here are the few sketches I did as I spent most of my time parked behind Hussar, Whitaker, Barber, and Llewellyn.

I'll admit that in the beginning, I was a little put off by the Cirque du Strangé vibe, but after a while I realized that I was seeing a lot of rare and interesting stuff in terms of models and costumes, and that I needed to get into the spirit of things. I'm glad I stuck around for the duration of the party becasue it really helped to set the tone for what I would see in the following days.

Most of my sketches came out as indiscernable blobs and smudges that only make sense to me, but it's a way I like to work sometimes.

Seeing so many artists sketch small and with line was itself was a learning experience. It's just something I never learned to do or embrace in school, and at times I fall into the trap of sacrificing clarity to capture an emotion. I've learned that I need to work toward capturing both in my sketches.

At times I found myself working against the distractions (people walking around, the cold, the noise, etc.) and having a hard time concentrating. But overall, the event left an impression, and has given me more than enough to keep me inspired for a long time to come.

I had fun sketching with color in oils on Duralar, again, a little too loose with really important things like proportion and accuracy:nohope: , but having fun. They didn't quite survive the trip across the bridge, but I can always rework them or develop them into larger, finished pieces... 69207
That's all for now. So much to learn.:^^:

Love all the work that ended up here. Hope to see more even though the workshop is kinda long gone. Cody, that page is awesome! You should burn the bottom right corner off or something to give it that extra melted brains effect. Or slop on some cheeze whiz.
