Concept:
This l'ttle chick embodies US, the youth, since it's the young version of the Massive Black Logo wich's leading this forum. The Teen Challenge allowed the chick to go up, to "grow" and to learn to reach this aim.

Good job to everyone who entered. Post any comments you may have, challenge #22 is coming up next.

It's nice to see many entries for this one !

My vote went to smartkyle.
I'll try to say sthg about each of the picture, but, that's only a 16 years old critic so.. :s

Bendragon => What's nice is that we can instantly notice that this is about a teen challenge, this l'tle guy ready to fight to win :) I didn't vote for you but it went close, only a "personnal preference" for on other pic, sorry ;) !

Evil sloth => Nice concept, but in some places it seems unfinished (the pants & the sketchbook especially)

j a k e => Nice illustration, really, but I can't feel the topic in it, I've the impression that it has not be done for this particular case of a mascot. But one more time, the painting is nice !

keng => It was my first idea too, but I found it too much difficult for me. Well, yours is not bad, but a bit sketchy, isn't it ?

smartkyle => My fav', cause firstly of the concept: the guy getting his inspiration from CA, the well-done anatomy and, roughly speaking, the "style", not sketchy, not too much things, only the essential, and nice colors. Some graphics stuffs, like the contour (outline). Maybe it could have been more "challenging", and more young.

Cup of joe => Simple, efficient, nice colors. I like the concept of the muse with stuffs like the stone etc...

Mehz => I don't think the gesture was really needed, but it's your drawing. On the technical point, you may do stronger lights and shadows, to give more volume of the character. I noticed also a l'tle problem on her legs: she has one bigger than the other one. Last, you may use a background, cause the white really strikes.

Noë => those flowers and.. lines are cute ;) But I think it's not enought contrasted and, more than all, cut off, I mean there's like a blur, and the drawing is saved by the few black lines you did. You really didn't choose an easy facial expression, but it's more or less succesful !

v0rbiss => With some colors and work, it could be ten times better, hope you'll find time for the next challenge, I want to see what your able to do :)

narmo => oups it's me. I let this part to you, I've to may critics for mine :p

If I could have vote 3 times it would be for Cup of joe, smartkyle, and Bendragon.. and, oh damn it, too many brilliant entries, can't make choices. Good job everyone !:lens:

j a k e because I honestly thought his was the most mascot-y. Also because I wouldn't mind seeing it over and over again in the future TC threads.

I voted for Narmo because I think he had a relly good idea with a pretty solid execution.

I really wanted to get in on this one but I couldn't find the time, I'll be entering #22 for sure, though.

thnx for the crits, anyways... I voted Bendgragon because the cape is so go'damn painterly also im liking the springing forward gesture...

I almost voted narmo for the concept alone, but Jake and bendragons seemed to have more thought put into the rendering.

Yer i agree with the critso n mine, looking to old, well i guess its cos im 18 and its almost a self portrait lol..

Heya guys, good job everybody has done! *yaya, yodastyle=clichee, but anyway...* :)

Continuing my tradition to brutalize all pics when I have some spare time, I present y'all the today's issue of the infamous "v0rbiss' blunt ramblings that nobody gives-a-fuck about" 8) :yayca:
(I'm attentionwhore, I know)

Bendragon, tight shit as usual! :) Random stuff that pops up in my mind, directly typed without being brainprocessed: can't figure what's exactly goin on with the legs, and it's not my fault at that! ;) DOn't hide the feet in the casted shadow. Both legs have exactly the same value/color in their lit parts.(god forbid!!!) The sword's point being more blured than the cape isn't good too. Both swords' hilts more detailed than the character's mouth and nose.(ungood! :P) That bulging form on the cape is extremely tense for a piece of cloth at the background. ;) Anyhow, one of the best images this time around! :)

Sloth: cool image! Leaving the shoes not entirely defined for the sake of the hands/face is cool shit, but you could've worked on the hands a bit more imho. The pants look fuzzy, dunno if it was intended.

j a k e: great moody image! Anyhow, it doesn't exactly fit into the challenge's theme imo.

keng: Looks promising, but unfinished. I really dig the mesh leg tho! Next time maybe try using more opacity in the focal points.

smartkyle, heya new guy! :) Some cool stuff going on! Few things bother me tho: the bluish outline seems unnecessary to me, or maybe give it some varioation. The shoulder on the left seems severely dislocated too. Looking forward to see more of you! :hatsoff:

cup of joe: wow, nice anatomy! Plus the idea seems very good to me. The grass is oversaturated badly, on the other hand. ;) Look at some ref for the feet, they are the weakest point of your figure. And the body seems stiff in the spine somehow. And always remember the main rule for us newbs messing with color: cool light, warm shadow; warm light, cool shadow.8)

Mehz: that kind of stilization is overused and uninteresting, I'd suggest searching for yourself trough experimentation.(maybe that one is experiment in taht direction and I'm terribly wrong, in which case I'll pour some ashes onto my miserable head) Yeah I sound like an asshole, but it's too hard for me to find some more subtle way of saying that. :P

Noe: I like the idea, and the challenging task you've undertaken! Anyway, I'd personaly use other means to draw attention to the face than black outline/hard edges, I'd've(??) used that on the hand, using color contrast or something for the face, but that's just me. ;) Btw what's up with those tits, is this supposed to be androgynous character, or..? Disturbing imagery!!:blah:

v0rbiss: marry me, I want your babyes, blah-blah-blah...

And finally, my personal favourite this week(s): Narmo! :teeth: The idea:realisation ratio is extremely high in that one, and that's one sweet idea too! Besides, you are the only one who included description, +10 coolness points right away! And a minor crit, out of love :P : The chick looks a bit flat, maybe some more colorful highlights would help that.
In conclusion, may we all become as skilled/professional as the big black cocks!:tihi: And a question: why are the chick's legs in paint?

v0rbiss => With some colors and work, it could be ten times better, hope you'll find time for the next challenge, I want to see what your able to do Heh, I'm curious myself! :P On the colors, it's hard for me you see, as I use trad only, the next one looks interesting enough to test my oil skills on it tho! ;)

Hahaha I thought the deadline was on Sunday!
Anyhow, my vote went straight to Jake. Its well painted and would make a fine mascot because I find it pleasing to look at, its painted at a professional level.

Narmo definitely got my vote, I just love the concept!

-Narmo, no doubt. Though i think you could have made it even more simpler, like with no speciffic background and drop the pencil/paint thingy.
