well i thought i would post some of my sketches--and although i do have lots of wariors, exotic sci-fi weirdness, i thought i would post some sketches that are not typical of alot of the art posted here. hope ya like!!--ty

this was done at a place in katy, TX-called the forbidden city. It has all these enormous miniatures (oxy-moron?)

this was done in the museum of natural history with my trusty sumi ink brush-i love that brush--it has refillable cartridge handles so you never have to dip it--just sqeeze the handle--and it has the brush tip of a chinese calligraphy brush

For me it isn´t important to see the 1234th mech, elf or whatever to be appealed ;).

I really like your loose sketching, the portrait of your grandma is great and I see that you´re developing a kind of original ornamental style. You´re influenced by ethnic art from America and Africa, aren´t you?

nice to see a sane sketchbook once in a while! the last one is the one that stands out the most for me, even if it reminds me more of Australia than Afrika.

the strenght of your sketch book is in its diversity, the images by themselvs are good, but not Oh my God that is amazing! kinda of level.
but when you putt them all toegheter, something happens and you can see that you really use the sketch book the way it is meant to be.

it is all bout tring stuff out, experimenting, and studing.

You have a lot of mental freedom ty...you are already producing interesting and amazing images...when your skills get even better you will be rockin the house. Your line quality (especially on the pic of your grandma) is amazing...great work man.

Ty, I've lived here all my life; Katy is on the other side of town and i've still never been to the Forbidden City.. Heard about it a few times but yet i've never been. I'm definately going to go check it now! Thanks

cool to get a glimpse inside the mind of tyboogie; I like them all, especially the location pieces think you have a hidden strength for that stuff, showed in your met storyboards too

worst of the bunch is the one based on city of lost children, don't ask me why but it seems below the standard of the others

your grandma drawing would make Schiele proud, nice lines
the sketches of the girl are elegant too and that last african piece rocks; if you haven't been to Brooklyn Museum you owe yourself a trip they've got a huge african art collection

and rent the video Kirikou and the Sorceress you'll dig it

fipse--thx--im actually trying to be influenced by many cultures patterns and designs. trying to build up a drawing "vocabulary" through patterns, design, mark making etcetc

groove--yea check it out its fun--although the place is alittle run down--i called them on a MOn i think ( they were closed) but i asked them if they could let me in anyway cus i wanted to draw the miniatures. a women said ok, and since no one was reall around, i actually got into the middle of the miniatures and took a bunch of photos i wouldnt have been able to get otherwise.
