basically, it's only a speedpainting. i did some wip screengrabs so i thought i might post it in its own thread...
it's not supposed to be a 'good' tutorial, more of something like 'how to do some quick stuff' that looks more or less ok if you want to convey an idea in a short amount of time.

the basic idea is to mix the propaganda style (2d shapes and proud posing) with some comics style effect.
it turned out as some russian sadomasochistic war-cyborg i guess...

also, i wish to apologize to the people that took time to answer my 'audiomicid' wip thread and got no reply from me.
i took your advices and that helped me a lot to finish it. thanks again ! i'll dig that thread up to post the finished version : )

Cool color sketch. I appreciate the tut, nice to see where you draw the line from blocking in planes to adding detail.

I agree... you are the shit! Nice work! It's so cool to see someone's process like this. Big help for people learning the ropes. I really dig the way you stay aware of the overall composition while going through your process. And those tips for checking values and volume are priceless. Thanks HP!

thanks, glad you liked the tut. i just hope that it will help more than do harm.
it's like selling some untested medicine, beware of the unpredictable secondary effects =P
actually i'm still looking for the good process, that's why i keep doing fast pieces rather than finished pics.

poly_cube, i'm using ps7. about the brushes, the 2 brushes i use are described on top of the tut :
1 thin round (approx 3pix-5pix) with opacity pressure for the preliminary linework and small details.
1 dual brush with opacity pressure for coloring, work size varies a lot from 5 to 100 pixels. the 'main' size is about 30pix. (dual brush is a ps feature that 'mix' different brush tips to achieve some texture effect).
canvas size is 1400x2000, i work with the whole pic in full screen (zoom 50%), a few zoom-ins once in while, but i really prefer to work at viewing size rather than getting too close. i tend to forget the overall compo and loose myself in useless details when i play with the close-ups.

tyboogie, i miss dsg too, i'll have to get some 'real' work done before i can join you freaks back. i want my lexus and the gold plates !

d, i just reinstalled w2k, have to get all the warez back. i'll get my ass back on the #poo soon
