oh come on, you know what I'm talking about... We come to CA.org everyday and get blown away by the massive amount of good art! and rightfully so. But what about those "golden" days of art, where you would draw ninja turtles and sell them for a quarter each to all of your friends. Or the days when you would draw straight from your head and you could care less wether you knew where the rectus pemoris, trapezius, or the latissimus dorsi were placed on the figure. (much less knew what they were.) In other words, the days you try to forget about. The beginning days of your art! We all had to start somewhere...

I thought this could be a fun and light-hearted thread where we could post such drawings/paintings/sculpture/etc.. a little bit of nostalgia for us all and providing some good laughs. Maybe provide some inspiration/assurance for those that are starting out. It would be great to see some professionals join in on this just for fun sake. I searched CA for a thread like this, but unfortuneatly I didn't find anything. If it's against the rules, I suppose just delete this, mods.

Some rules:
- please post only your OWN art.
- it would be nice to know the age you were at the time you finished it.
- Please no critiquing, bashing, rude comments, muffin baking...
- If you were able to paint the Sistine Chapel at the age of 7, please don't post it.
- you don't have to post if you don't want to...duh.
- don't make images too big (I doubt there will be that much detail that we have to see..)
- you don't have to post a big ol' dump of work...we get the idea...
- I wanna see some crude, unknowledgable, disproportioned, juicy art!

SO to be fair, i'll go ahead and start this off with some masterpeices from my early days of art:

Awesome skeleton man, 14yrs old:

Sweet-ass army space man, oh the humanity! 14yrs:

hand studies, 15 yrs (no ref hahaha):

and a horrible portrait, one of my first. 15/16 yrs:

ah.. I went to take a look at my drawings from the age of 14.. And they were actually pretty good! :S
I'm editing this post after what Dtile posted about posting your best work from when you just started, and posting your best work now.

So here are two of my best works from when I just started, I was about 14,5 I think. Right now I'm almost 17 and I don't feel I've improved a lot looking back to it. The only thing I can find is that it's taking me a lot less time to draw things "the right way".
Oh also note that at this time (age 14-15) I was depressed and stayed awake all night trying to sleep or drawing sad stuff ^^
http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL655/2419646/5427197/75862720.jpg http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL655/2419646/5427197/76711269.jpg

Here are four things I found in the very beginning of my sketchbook from when I was about 15,5.. This was at the beginning of when I started actually practicing a few times a week to get better;
http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL655/2419646/5277014/100000944.jpg http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL655/2419646/5277014/105061870.jpg http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL655/2419646/5277014/109715931.jpg http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL655/2419646/5277014/122591484.jpg

So now I'm almost 17 and the best thing I could find at the end of my sketchbook was this;

hm, I just thought I should say before this turn into a ego-thingy thread like
"ohh watch me , I did improved alot didnt I ??"

The thing I wanted to say , is that, please , dont post the worst stuff of yours
that you did at the time, post your best , I assume you wouldnt put
your worst stuff in a portfolio ??
(if you where crazy and really thought your art at the time was good enough for a portfolio heh ?) That was just an example.. but to really see your true
Improvement, please post your BEST stuff at the TIME and compare that to your BEST stuff RIGHT NOW! or if not, PLEASE do not post crappy doddles
or this thread would turn out wrong..
As I stated, its very inspiring and motivating to see peoples progress, but
its even MORE inspiring to see peoples TRUE progress! :)

Alright, just my two sentc ;)

now keep post!

ps.
Ursula: Thats sooooo awesome :D wish I wanted to draw at the time I was
so little :P thats really cute!

Keep it up everyone!

@Dile; I edited my post, you made a good point..
I'm not going to post anything from before I was 14 because before that I always hated having to draw things (I was like; why draw when you can read? :P) so I wasn't ever serious about drawing stuff.

Hei, Dtemp, thanks, back then I used to draw all the time, ever since I was a little kid, after that I went to University to study sciences and I kept drawing but didn't have much time for that, so I guess I haven't improved much from that time...

I think your progress is much more evident. (and I think we have similar scanners... :blah: )

cool idea.

Here's mine. My parents just moved out of the house that I grew up in. When I went over to help them move my Dad pulled out a box of drawings that I had done when I was little. He saved them all!

Superman: I'd say about age 4-5. (I never included my age on any of them)
Spiderman: Same. (I've got a few of him with ice-man too. Apparently I was really into Amazing Friends!)
Comic page: Age 15 - Splash page from one of my high school comics)
