View Full Version : Getting a Job at Siggraph...

Hello,

I was just wondering if Siggraph is a good place to go job hunting in the game industry?

I am planning to go to San Diego the end of next month, but the only game company on the list of exhibitors so far is EA. I missed E3, but will have a new demo in time for July.

So Siggraph seems the next best thing, seeing how the faculty at my school worships it and we have to submit our thesis to it. I want it to be a worthwhile trip.

It seems like the conference is shrinking though and that companies are going there more to show than look. The GDC in London seems more interesting to me. But I've never been, so what do I know?

So, is it worth the money to go? What would everyone recommend?

Thanks!

thanks ty,

you're right, it is just a matter of persistence and time. good luck to you as well!

Just to be clear:

i guess what i'm really saying is are there going to be game companies at siggraph looking to hire?

From my understanding they are doing away with the jobfair this year. I could be wrong though. The past few i've been too didn't really seem like the best way to find work, considering there are 12 places hiring and 12,000 people in the same place vying for the same position. Don't let that discourage you though. If you don go bring your best work and be at the top of your game.. nothing worse than an opportunity coming along and not being fully prepared.

thanks Grooveholmes

I'll find out if they have the job fair and let everyone know on this post.

I do know that EA will be interviewing there and early interviews can be made if you send in your work by July 4th.
