Hey all, long time lurker here.

I'm a senior in highschool from Columbus, OH. I'm in the process of applying to schools, all of that fun stuff.

Question: I have the means to attend InSOMAnia, it's just up to me to decide if I should go or not. Although I'm very excited at the prospect of going and the wealth of knowlege/experience at the event, I'm worried that it will be over my head. I'm of moderate skill for a highschool senior.

Will it be worth me showing up?

Should I come?

(How much) will I learn?

I guess I'm just intimidated by the professionals/established students. Any replies would be very much appreciated! Thanks for reading.

Sooooo nervous.

I was between my senior year or HS and my freshman year of college when I went to Montreal, and I got more info out of it than I got through all 4 years of HS art classes. I don't think you'll miss out on much at that skill level. Even if you do, it won't feel like it because there's always 1000 things going on anyway.

Go. Period. It is worth it.

we've had 14 year olds show up, so you wont be our youngest. if youre seriously considering going to study art down the road, you owe it to yourself to check this out first. it will save you a lot of time and money youll spend looking for answers we can already give you. take what you can and run with it. this is a taste of what is in store for you if youre willing to work hard enough.

insomania : 5 days and counting ::::::::

edit: check this (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=68680)out too...

I fully intend on pursuing art as a career, I'm just a little intimidated I suppose :$ It's by far my #1 passion, and I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else. I'm applying for Ringling's new Game Art & Design major for fall '07, and I've never been so excited! I'm very serious about this, my development as an artist is extremely near and dear to me.

Also, I will be going, provided there are spots left. I'll be making reservations/payment tomorrow afternoon. Thanks a lot for the responses!

I know this is what I want to do for the rest of my life!

I was a Sophomore when I went to Montreal.

It was brilliant.

Make sure you TALK TO EVERYONE. Ask them about why they draw certain things, or what they were thinking while drawing certain things... I mean, ask EVERYONE. Shake EVERYONE's hand, look at all of their sketchbooks.. DON'T FEEL NERVOUS.
