Sketches and Such and Other Finery[UPDATE 3-4-07]

I figured I would start this sketchbook type thing... My brother gave me his wacom recently, so I've been using it every now and then to experiment with digital medium. I don't have a scanner here (in college) so most of the stuff will probably be digital, and not that exciting. Mostly just little doodles and whatnot. So anyways...

There looks like a strong use of depth and shadow in your portraits - nice work :) Maybe try subtler use of values for more realistic faces?

Ok, so I'm back home, so i scanned some stuff from my sketchbook.
Softocean: Yeah, i usually go in between normal color tones and abstract, and you caught me in a little abstract phase. I like to mix it up a little :teeth: Thanks for looking at my sketchbook, I suppose!

Most of the sketches use reference, the drawings are mostly from Bridgeman's anatomy book whatnot.

Nice anatomy studies... I remember having trouble with the throat area when studying Bridgeman's stuff. How does the adams apple hang in there? It looks like there are 4 rubber bands of tendons keeping it in place. I usually don't get further than the sterno cleido mastoid and trapezius when rendering the neck area.

on your first post the last two portraits.... - i love em ! don´t know why but i think it´s the style the´were drawn in.

i like the loose lines u did on the two last one guys in blue, i wihs u could use this line in the outlines of the bridgeman studies, because they seem so forced yet( well only some of them ) for example the sterno cleido pic looks great .... . i ´m looking forward for the next ones , keep it up!

Hey! update....
things have been a little slow.. but I've been drawing in my sketch book, but, without a scanner, I can't show anything! Ack!
But I do have some other things i've done...
The second to last one is/was at Nashville's Frist Museum for the Visual Arts, if anyone's ever heard/been of it/there. The last one, yes, the face isn't the best, and I wish I could go back and change it, but, alas, I've already "finished" the painting, and, according to art rules, I can't bring myself to go back and change it.
I do agree that the bridgeman studies were forced. I know (well, was told) that he just does these drawings in, like, two seconds, but they're just... awesome. And stuff. But I took much longer than that. Well, not really long, ten or so minutes. But that's longer than a couple of seconds.
My point is, yes. I agree.

Update! I got a scanner! It's not the best, so I had to edit the colors some, some of the really bright colors didn't even come in at all, like some of the neon colors. But that's ok. These are in backwards order, starting from most recent... enjoy! or whatever!

just a small update... I did this over the week end, all digital, I used reference for the figures. I cropped it a little... part of the intent was some type of wallpaper... so any suggestions are welcome! Or comments!

I like the approach on a lot of this but there's a general flatness (much of this owed to your apparent interest in design) that you can sort out through more life drawing. Great work, keep on it.
